Abstract: Laminate comprises an Al film covering layer and a cold formed thermoplastic resin inner layer pref. of polyolefin or polyamide esp. Al needle or Al coarse powder filled nylon 6 or 6,6. The layers may be bonded using an adhesive film. The laminate is prepd. by pressing the layers and opt. the adhesive film at 20-200 bar and above the temp. of the resin for 5-60 sec. The laminate is ductile with the mechanical properties of Al but with the other physical properties of the resin inner layer. The resin shows no deformation caused by relaxation. The laminate can be used in deep drawing, or flow press parts e.g. cans, cups, ammunition cartridges or condenser casings.

Abstract: Process comprises mixing the thermoplastics with a foaming agent at a temp. above the softening temp. of the plastics and under pressure such that foaming of the mixt. is prevented; forcing the foamable mixt. into a lower-pressure zone; adjusting the bulk wt. of the foamed material to 10-90% of the sp. wt. of the thermoplastics; cooling the foamed foil to below the softening pt. of the plastics; and hauling off the cooled foil at >= x the rate at which the melt issued from the lip of the extrusion die. A wide range of plastics may be used, e.g. non-crosslinked polythylene, which may be so processed at above its crystallite m. pt. No additional shaping equipment is required. Also suitable for poluypropyklene, PVC, EVA and plystyrene.

Abstract: A metal shell of a cold-deformable nonferrous metal is filled with pure or reinforced plastic, subsequently this metal/plastics composite obtains its semi-finished geometry by stretching and cold forming, a positive or non-positive bond being produced between metal shell and plastics filling. The thus resulting semi-finished product can then be fed for further processing operations conventional for metal semi-finished products.

Abstract: The film is fed over rollers through a heating zone where it is stretched or fixed, in which the temp. of the heating zone is adjusted over a control circuit according to the measured tension of the film after treatment, thus providing specific definition of the process data with optimum heat action.

Abstract: 1. A process for the production of moldings from fiber-reinforced laminates, by bonding two or more layers of identical or different thermoplastics via one or more middle layers of fibrous substances, the layers being heated outside a mold to temperatures up to the softening point of the thermoplastics and being shaped, and caused to adhere to one another, in the mold, wherein the layers are prepared to correspond to the contour of the molding to be produced, are heated individually, are brought together and are pressed together, in the mold, in such a way that the thermoplastics penetrate, at least partially, through the middle layer consisting of fibrous substances.

Abstract: A multi-layer plate of thermoplastics consists of two or more sheets bonded together, one of the sheets possessing upstanding ribs or projections, while the other sheet constitutes a cover sheet. This cover sheet has apertures through it, and the cavities between the ribs of the opposite sheet are filled with fibrous filler. Pref. the ribbed sheet is produced by passing the soft thermoplastics material between two rolls, one of which has the necessary cavities for moulding the ribs; after leaving this pair of rolls, this sheet passes through a second roll gap into which the cover sheet, together with the fibrous material, is supplied so that the two sheets are bonded together. The arrangement results in a composite panel which is stiff against bending to an equal extent in all directions and possesses good insulating properties.

Abstract: In the case of this screw extruder, the barrel is subdivided into a coolable feed section (1) and a heatable melting cylinder. The feed section (1) has on its inner circumferential surface longitudinal grooves (2), which extend over its entire length or part of the length. For the purpose of adapting the feed behaviour of the screw extruder, in particular at constant screw speeds, to conditions changing during operation, the longitudinal grooves (2) can be changed in their cross-section and/or in their length. Preferably, all the longitudinal grooves can be changed simultaneously. In this way, output fluctuations and consequently production disturbances are avoided.

Abstract: Thermoplastic mouldings are produced by extruding molten polymer through the gap between counter-rotating rollers and calendering into film or sheet, this is shaped (at least in parts) and stamped out. The calendering pressure is sufficiently high to produce preforms from the film/sheet; these are moulded and stamped out from the web. Minimum wastage of material in contrast with e.g. deep drawing or stamping from continuous extruded material.
