    Abstract: Metal complexes (I), obtained from a metal precursor of a group 6-10 metal in the 0 or +2 oxidation state and a ortho-phosphinylphenol, -aniline or analogous ligand (II) are new. Metal complexes (I), obtained from a metal precursor of a group 6-10 metal in the 0 or +2 oxidation state and a ortho-phosphinylphenol, -aniline or analogous ligand of formula (II) are new; R , R , R = hydrogen (H), arylalkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, thioether, silyloxy OSiR R R , halogen, amino NR1oR or (substituted) alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl; R = alpha -branched or alpha -substituted alkyl, arylalkyl, alkenyl(alkyl), cycloalkyl, (substituted) aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy, thioether, OSiR R R , halogen or NR R ; 2 adjacent R groups may = a ring; R , R = (substituted) alpha -branched 3-12 C alkyl or 3-12 C cycloalkyl; X = oxygen (O), sulfur (S), selenium (Se), imino (NR ), phosphino (P-R ) or arsino (As-R ); Y = H, an alkali metal cation, alkylacyl or arylacyl anion or SiR R R ; R = H, alkyl, benzyl or aryl; R R or R R may = a ring.     Abstract: A metal complex, prepared from a metal precursor comprising a Group 6-10 element in an oxidation state of 0 or +2 and a monoaryl-phosphinophenoalate ligand is claimed. A metal complex (I), prepared from a metal precursor comprising a Group 6-10 element in an oxidation state of 0 or +2 and a ligand of formula (1), is claimed. Independent claims are included for : (i) a catalyst for the polymerization of 1-olefins comprising the complex (I) immobilized on a solid support; (ii) a process for the polymerization of 1-olefins in the presence of the complex (I) at 10-250 deg C and 1-1000 bar; and (iii) the resulting polymer and molding composition containing the polymer for the production of film, sheet, fibers or hollow articles.
