Abstract: Stabilised aqueous C14- to C22-alkyldiketene emulsions containing, as essential components, (a) 10 to 60 % by weight of at least one C14- to C22-alkyldiketene, (b) 1 to 10 % by weight of at least one protective colloid and (c) 0.1 to 20 % by weight of at least one ester of the formula in which R , R are C14- to C22-alkyl, in which case R and R must differ in the alkyl group by at least 4 C atoms, and/or denote identical or different C14- to C22-alkenyl groups, an ester of the formula R -O-CO-O-R (II), in which R and R are alkyl or alkenyl radicals having 2 to 22 C atoms or a urethane of the formula in which R , R and R are identical or different alkyl or alkenyl radicals having 2 to 22 C atoms, and the use of the compounds of the formula I to III as stabiliser for the preparation of alkyldiketene emulsions containing at least 10, preferably 16 to 40 % by weight of alkyldiketene in emulsified form.

Abstract: Process for the continuous preparation of carboxylic acid chlorides (I) of the general formula R-COCl, in which R is a C-organic radical having 1 to 30 C atoms, by reaction of a carboxylic acid R-COOH (II) with a reaction product (III) of phosgene (IV) and an N,N-disubstituted formamide (V), in which II and III are passed in counter-current from below into a zone (2) packed with III of a reactor (1), the reaction mixture is allowed to rise in predominantly laminar flow, a phase separation into an upper phase I and a lower phase III' of predominantly III and resultant formamide being obtained and I being withdrawn from the upper phase and parts of the lower phase III' according to its formation.
