Abstract: Preparation of aromatic amines, preferably tolylenediamine, comprises catalytic hydrogenation of nitro compounds, preferably dinitrotoluene in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst with an active component mixture containing platinum, nickel and an additional metal on a substrate. Independent claims are included for: (1) catalyst for the preparation of aromatic amines, comprising hydrogenation catalyst with an active component mixture containing platinum, nickel and an additional metal on a substrate; and (2) the preparation of hydrogenation catalyst, comprising mixing the substrate with an aqueous solutions of at least platinum salt, nickel salt and copper salt, cobalt, iron, zinc, manganese or chromium; evaporating the water; adding water-soluble basic compound; and reducing the produced catalyst with hydrogen.

Abstract: Preparation of aminodiglycol and morpholine comprises reacting diethyleneglycol with ammonia in the presence of a transition metal heterogeneous catalyst. The catalytically active mass of the catalyst, before treatment with hydrogen, contains oxygen-containing compounds of aluminum and/or zirconium, copper, nickel and cobalt, and that the catalyst molding is in spherical or strand form has a diameter of less than 3 mm, in tablet form has a height of less than 3 mm and in all other geometrical shapes with an equivalent diameter (L is I/a) of less than 0.70 mm.
