    Abstract: The invention relates to compounds which in the form of the free acids correspond to the general formula I in which D denotes an optionally additionally substituted phenyl or naphthyl radical containing sulpho groups, n denotes the numbers 1 or 2, R1 denotes C1-C10-alkyl, cycloalkyl, benzyl or a radical of the formula C2H4OR , C2H4-OC2H4OR , C3H6OR or R denotes hydrogen or R , R denotes hydrogen, methyl, methoxy, chlorine or sulpho and X for n = 1 denotes at least one reactive radical and for n = 2 denotes a group of the formula -X -B-X - where R is C1-C4-alkyl, X and X are reactive radicals and B is a bridge member. The compounds according to the invention are highly suitable as reactive dyes for the dyeing of fibres containing hydroxyl groups, in particular cotton.

    Abstract: Metaminic acid is prepd. by (1) reacting 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene with a salt of sulphurous acid, in an aq. medium at pH 6-8, in presence of (a) an organic solvent or diluent and/or (b) catalytic amts. of an ionic or nonionic surfactant or dispersant, (2) acidifying the reaction mixt., and (3) hydrogenating the 2,4-dinitrobenzene sulphonic acid formed, catalytically and in situ. at atoms. or somewhat increased pressure, in presence of a promoter. (1) Pref. surfactants or dispersants are 0.1-20 wt.%, w.r.t. 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene, of an ether or ester of an acyl polyethylene glycol, esp. a fatty amine polyethylene glycol ether. The amt. of sulphite salt is 1-2 equivs., w.r.t. 1 mol. of dinitrochlorobenzene. (3) Hydrogenation is at 1-6 bar, using Raney Ni or Pd as catalyst, and propionic acid, H3PO4, H3BO3, CuCl, FeCl2 or SnCl2 as promoter.
