Abstract:
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for treating metallic surfaces, in which methanesulfonic acid formulations are used that contain less than 28 percent by weight of water and optional amines and/or other components.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing gold-coloured aluminium oxid e layers, whereby the oxidised surface of the aluminium or aluminium alloy is coloured in an electrolyte containing an alkane sulfonic acid and a silver alkane sulfonate by means of an electrolytic method. The invention also relates to using of the gold-coloured aluminium or aluminium alloy workpiece s produced by said method for decorative purposes. The invention further relat es to an electrolyte solution for the gold coloration of the oxidised surface o f aluminium or an aluminium alloy by means of an electrolytic method, and the use of an electrolyte containing a silver alkane sulfonate for the gold coloration of aluminium oxide layers in aluminium and aluminium alloys in an electrolytic method.

Abstract:
Aqueous leachant compositions and processes for using the same comprising: (a) providing a metal-containing compound; and (b) subjecting the metal-containing compound to an acid digestion comprising contacting the metal-containing compound with an aqueous leachant; wherein the aqueous leachant comprises a mixture selected from the group consisting of: (i) sulfuric acid and one or more alkanesulfonic acids having alkane moieties selected from the group consisting of propyl, ethyl and methyl groups, at a weight ratio of alkanesulfonic acid to sulfuric acid of 1:1000 to 1:1; (ii) sulfuric acid and one or more salts of alkanesulfonic acids having alkane moieties selected from the group consisting of propyl, ethyl and methyl groups, at a weight ratio of salt of alkanesulfonic acid to sulfuric acid of 1:9 to 1:99.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for obtaining gold-colored aluminum oxide layers in which the coloring of the oxidized surface of the aluminum or aluminum alloys is carried out by an electrolytic process in an electrolyte comprising an alkanesulfonic acid and an alkanesulfonate of silver, and to the use of the gold-colored workpieces based on aluminum or aluminum alloys produced by this process for decorative purposes. The invention furthermore relates to an electrolyte solution for coloring the oxidized surface of aluminum or aluminum alloys gold by an electrolytic process, and to the use of an electrolyte comprising an alkanesulfonate of silver for coloring aluminum oxide layers based on aluminum or aluminum alloys gold in an electrolytic process.
