    Abstract: Method for determining the regulatory properties of a genetic element, which comprises the following steps: a) introducing a DNA molecule having a DNA-I sequence whose regulatory properties are to be determined into a cell, said DNA-I sequence being linked with an additional DNA-II sequence encoding a laccase from Aspergillus nidulans in such a manner that the regulatory elements of the DNA-I sequence control expression of the laccase, b) cultivating the cells obtained in step (a) under conditions allowing expression of the laccase, c) associating the conditions selected under (b) with the regulatory properties of the DNA-I sequence.

    Abstract: The invention relates to novel keratin-binding protein materials and to their production and use. Particularly suitable keratin-binding polypeptides are those sequences that are contained in the human protein desmoplakin or that can be derived from modifications of human desmoplakin polypeptide sequences, such as amino acid insertions, substitutions or deletions. The polypeptide sequence of human desmoplakin is represented in SEQ ID NO: 1. A suitable keratin-binding domain (domain B) is the polypeptide sequence SEQ ID No: 1, position 2193 to 2481 and its functional equivalents. An additional keratin-binding domain (domain C) is the polypeptide sequence SEQ ID NO: 1, position 2606 to 2871 and its functional equivalents.
