Abstract:
ALKENONES WHOSE OLEFINIC DOUBLE BOND IS IN THE $,E-POSITION OR Y,&-POSITION TO THE KETO GROUP, ARE PREPARED BY REACTION OF AN OLEFIN WITH A B-HYDROXYKETONE IN THE LIQUID PHASE OR IN A SINGLE REACTION STAGE BY REACTION OF AN OLEFIN WITH FORMALDEHYDE OR A COMPOUND YIELDING FORMALDEHYDE AND AN ALIPHAIC KETONE IN THE LIQUID PHASE. ALKENONES ARE INTERMEDIATES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PERFUMES AND VITAMINS.
Abstract:
The production of triaryl phosphines from phosphorus halides and aryl halides in the presence of alkali metals in a Wurtz-Fittig type reaction. In order to carry out this reaction without risk, a dispersion of an alkali metal in an organic solvent is used which has been prepared with the addition of an aryl halide or a triaryl phosphine.
Abstract:
MANUFACTURE OF ISPORENE BY DEHYDRATION OF 3-METHYL-3BUTEN-1OL WITH ACIDS COMPRISING TREATING THE 3-METHYL-3BUTEN-1-OL WITH ACIDS, OR SUBSTANCES WHICH FROM ACIDS IN AQUEOUS MEDIUM, IN THE PRESENCE OF WATER AND SALTS AND, OPTIONALLY, DILUENTS. THE SAID ACID-FORMING SUBSTANCES AND SALTS ARE SELECTED SO THAT THE ANION OF THE ACID AND/OR THE ANION OF THE SALT ARE HALIDES. THE ISOPRENE PROODUCT IS ISOLATED.
Abstract:
A PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A,B-UNSATURATED CARBONYL COMPOUNDS BY CONTACTING THE CORRESPONDIN B,$-UNSATURATED ALCOHOLS WITH A DEHYDROGENATION CATALYST AT TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM 150* TO 600*C. THE REACTION PROCEEDS PARTICUARLY WELL WHEN CARRIED OUT IN THE PRESENCE OF CATALYTIC AMOUNTS OF CERTAIN NUCLEOPHILIC SUBSTANCES.
Abstract:
The manufacture of Beta -hydroxy carbonyl compounds and/or Alpha -unsaturated carbonyl compounds by the reaction of ketones with derivatives of glyoxylic acid and derivatives of Alpha ketoaldehydes in the absence of catalysts at a temperature below 140* C. Some of the compounds obtainable by the process of the invention are solvents and valuable starting materials for the manufacture of dyes, plastics, adhesives and varnishes.
Abstract:
Manufacture of isoprene by catalytic dehydration of 3-methyl-3buten-1-ol in the presence of inorganic acids as catalysts at elevated temperatures, wherein 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol is passed over a pumice-supported phosphoric acid catalyst.
