Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for post-processing styrene polymers by admixing a preferably aqueous emulsion of a polymeric auxiliary agent to the melt of the styrene polymer and subsequently degassing it.
Abstract:
A method for the production of impact-resistant moulding materials by anionic polymerization of vinyl aromatic monomers in the presence of rubber in a continuously through-flown reactor cascade consisting of at least two reactors. The vinyl aromatic monomers are fed to the reactors of the reactor cascade in partial flows and an anionic initiator and rubber are fed to at least the first reactor. The reactor cascade consists of backmixed reactors.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a hollow body with a capacity of at least 250 ml, the casing of which consists of polystyrene and is produced by injection stretch blow moulding. The invention also relates to the method of producing this hollow body and to the use of the hollow bodies.
Abstract:
A continuous anionic polymerisation or copolymerisation process of styrene or diene monomers with alkali metal alkyl as polymerisation initiator is carried out in the presence of a metal alkyl or aryl of an at least bivalent element as reaction speed regulator, preferably in non-isotherm conditions and without a back admixture in a pipe or pipe bundle reactor. A metal alkyl or aryl A of formula R M and a metal alkyl or aryl B of formula R nM in a molar ratio between B and A from 0.1:1 to 500:1 are used. In the formulas, M is Li, Na or K; R is hydrogen, C1-C20-alkyl or C6-C20-aryl or C7-C20-alkyl-substituted aryl; M is an n-valent element of groups 2a, 2b or 3a of the periodic table of elements; and R is hydrogen, halogen, C1-C20-alkyl or C6-C20-alkyl. Also disclosed is a special initiator for the anionic polymerisation which does not contain any Lewis bases. 00000
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for continuously preparing styrene polymers by anionic spray polymerization, which comprises i) styrene and the initiator solution being mixed in a dynamic or static mixer and then the mixture being sprayed, ii) the resultant droplets passing from the liquid monomer state to the melted polymer state during their free fall in the spraying tower, iii) the melt droplets being collected as a melt at the foot of the tower, the melt having a monomer content of below 1%, preferably below 0.1% (
Abstract:
Production of styrene polymers with a mineral oil content >= 8 wt.% by mixing comprises: (a) using an extruder with one or more screws; and (b) introducing the mineral oil at >= 2 openings, there being mixing or kneading elements in the vicinity of the openings.
Abstract:
In a process for polymerizing dienes in a solvent comprising vinylaromatic monomers, the polymerization is carried out in the presence of a metal compound of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo or W as catalyst and a Lewis acid as cocatalyst and, if desired, an alkylating agent and, if desired, a regulator. This process can be used for preparing high-impact polystyrene, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers or methyl methacrylate-butadiene-styrene copolymers.
Abstract:
In a process for the anionic polymerization of vinylaromatic monomers or dienes in the presence of a lithium organyl or lithium alcoholate and a magnesium and/or an aluminum compound, a sterically hindered phenol or amine is added.
