Abstract: Rubber-modified, high-impact acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (ABS) moulding compositions, as obtained by polymerisation of styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of a preformed rubber, dissolved in monomeric styrene and acrylonitrile and optionally a solvent, containing, as rubber, a styrene-butadiene block copolymer and at least one further polymer which is compatible with styrene-butadiene block rubber or its polystyrene component and is incompatible with polystyrene-acrylonitrile.

Abstract: A process is claimed for removing the catalyst in the prodn. of high-mol. wt. polyphenylene ether (PPE) from mono-phenols with alkyl or aryl substits. in both o-positions or also in one m-position but not in the p-position, by oxidative coupling with oxygen at 10-60 deg.C in the presence of a Cu salt/amine catalyst and a 6-10C aromatic hydrocarbon solvent. The catalyst is removed by prestabilisation with aq. NaHSO3 soln. as reducing agent, followed by 2-stage counter-current extn. with aq. (NH4)2SO4 soln.

Abstract: The invention relates to rubber-modified, high-impact moulding compositions containing, based on the sum of A, B1 and B2, A: from 70 to 98% by weight of a polymer matrix A, formed by free radical-initiated polymerisation of a mixture of from 60 to 90% by weight of styrene and from 10 to 40% by weight of acrylonitrile, and B1: from 1 to 29% by weight of a particulate, first graft polymer B1 distributed in the matrix and comprising a graft base of polybutadien and graft branches of a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile, having a mean particle size of from about 100 to 500 nm, B2: from 1 to 29% by weight of a particulate, second graft copolymer B2 distributed in the matrix and comprising a graft base of polybutadien and graft branches of a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile having a mean particle size of from 600 to 10000 nm, as obtained by preparing the two graft copolymers in solution and/or bulk and incorporating them into the polymer matrix in a conventional manner. e
