Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of stable, electroconductive polymers having electrical conductivity values of greater than 10 S/cm from polyphenylenes, heteropolyphenylenes or polyacetylenes, in which from 0.1 to 75 per cent by weight of an organic aromatic diazofluoro-metal compound of the formula: Ar-(X)y in which Ar is an optionally substituted aromatic radical and X is N=N -Me-Fn in which Me is B, Ge, Si, P, As or Sb, n is 4, 5 or 6, and y is 1, 2 or 3, are added to the polymers in the absence of oxygen. In particular, a diazofluorometallate compound of the formula (I): in which X is as defined above, and R is H, alkyl, Cl, Br, I, F, OH, NO2, N(CH3)2, N(C2H5)2, C6H5, COOC2H5 or COOH, and R , R and R are R or X, is used. The electroconductive polymers can be used in electrical engineering for the production of solar cells, for the conversion and fixation of radiation, for the production of electrical and magnetic switches and electrical storage systems and for the antistatic finishing of plastics.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of electrically conductive polyaromatics having conductivities greater than 10-2S/cm., wherein from 0.5 to 5% by weight, based on the polyaromatics, of sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium or their amides, preferably in tetrahydrofuran, dimethoxyglycol, anthracene, naphthalene or 2-methylstyrene, are incorporated into polyaromatics, in the absence of moisture and of oxygen. The conductive polyaromatics obtained may be used in the electrical industry for the manufacture of solar cells, for the conversion of radiation and for the manufacture of electrical and magnetic switches, and may also be used to render plastics antistatic.

Abstract: Stable electrically conductive polymers having conductivities greater than 10-2 S/cm are prepared by heating p-doped polyacetylenes, in the absence of oxygen and moisture, for from 0.1 to 3 hours, preferably from 0.5 to 1.0 hour, at from 500 DEG to 1,100 DEG C., preferably from 550 DEG to 850 DEG C. The electrically conductive polymers obtained can be used in the electrical industry for the production of solar cells, for the utilization and fixing of radiation, for the production of electrical and magnetic switches and stores, and for the antistatic treatment of plastics.
