Abstract: A composite comprises Aa) at least one first layer which comprises a mixture Ia, comprising a mix IIa consisting of a) from 1 to 95 % by weight of a solid III, preferably a basic solid III, having a primary particle size of from 5 nm to 20 mu m and b) from 5 to 99 % by weight of a polymeric composition IV obtainable by polymerization of b1) from 5 to 100 % by weight, based on the composition IV, of a condensation product V of alpha ) at least one compound VI which is able to react with a carboxylic acid or a sulfonic acid or a derivative or a mixture of two or more thereof, and beta ) at least 1 mol per mol of the compound VI of a carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid VII which contains at least one free-radically polymerizable functional group, or a derivative thereof or a mixture of two or more thereof, and b2) from 0 to 95 % by weight, based on the composition IV, of a further compound VIII having a mean molecular weight (number average) of at least 5000 and polyether segments in the main chain or a side chain, where the proportion by weight of the mix IIa in the mixture Ia is from 1 to 100 % by weight, and the layer is free of an electron-conducting, electrochemically active compound, and B) at least one second layer which comprises an electron-conducting, electrochemically active compound, wherein the first layer or layers and the second layer or layers are joined to one another by one of the two methods V1 or V2: V1) Lamination of the first layer or layers with the second layer or layers under the action of heat or pressure or under the action of heat and pressure, or V2 Corona treatment of the first layer or layers, the second layer or layers or the first layer or layers and the second layer or layers and subsequent bringing together of the corona-treated first layer or layers with the corona-treated or untreated second layer or layers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to polymerized hydrogels and processes to make such hydrogels, in particular hydrogel adhesives which are capable of attaching to mammalian skin and can be used in various personal care product s, such as waste-management articles, and a variety of functional articles to b e worn by a human. The hydrogels described herein are characterized by very lo w amount of residual starting monomers, impurities, and/or by-products that could be formed during polymerization. Specifically, the hydrogels are made by adding scavengers and/or chain transfer agent prior to polymerization.It has been found, that upon addition of same scavengers the material properties of the polymerized hydrogel differ from the properties of gels polymerized without the scavenger. This is due to the fact, that these specific scavenge rs act also as chain transfer agents in the radical polymerization.Further studies showed that also chain transfer agents, that are no scanvengers for residual monomer(s), impurities or byproducts influence the material properties of the polymerized hydrogel adhesive.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing coatings, adhesive layers or sealing systems for primed or unprimed substrates. Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making polymerized hydrogel, in particular adhesives, which are characterized by very low amount of residual starting monomer(s), impurity(s) and/or by-products which could be formed during polymerization, such as acrylamide, acrylonitrile or acrolein. After a first polymerization step, which is conducted from a reaction medium comprising starting monomer(s) and at least one polyol, the resulting hydrogel is then post-treated with a compound which chemically reacts with said residual monomer(s), impurity(s) and/or with said by-products the said polymerization could produce, to thereby reduce said residual starting monomer(s), impurity(s) and/or said by-products within said hydrogel. The present invention also relates to polymerized hydrogels, in particular adhesives, comprising 10-90 wt % water, 10-60 wt % cross-linked hydrophilic polymer made from starting monomer(s) comprising acrylic acid, and 10-80 wt % of at least one polyol, such hydrogel being prepared by polymerizing said starting monomer(s) in the presence of said water and said polyol(s), wherein such hydrogels contain less than 500 ppb, preferably less than 100 ppb, more preferably less than 50 ppb and most preferably less than 20 ppb of alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl by-product(s) derived from said polyol(s) during polymerization, and wherein the level of residual starting monomer(s) is below 200 ppm, preferably below 100 ppm, more preferably below 50 ppm, even more preferably below 20 ppm, and most preferably below 10 ppm.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for making microstructures having structure depths ranging from several mu m up into the mm region by imagewise irradiation of polymers with X-rays and removal of the imagewise irradiated regions of the polymers. Before the imagewise irradiation, the polymers, which have layer thicknesses ranging from several mu m up into the mm region are applied under pressure to an electrically conductive base and firmly anchored by melting in a frame and using a pressure ram. The process according to the invention is suitable, in particular, for making microstructures having structure depths of between 3 mu m and 2000 mu m and very fine lateral dimensions of less than 10 mu m.
