Abstract: Mixed acid (H2SO4-HNO3) or H2SO4 contaminated with nitration prods. is worked up by simultaneous addn. of the impure acid and N oxide or nitrosyl cpds. to 60-100 wt.% H2SO4 (H2SO4 sump) at 140-350, pref. 200-280 degrees C. Denitrification and the removal of large amts. of stable organic nitro cpds. take place simultaneously. Even by-prods. of nitration which are resistant to boiling H2SO4 are oxidised completely. Pref., part of the vapour given off by the acid is condensed and added to the sump, to provide the N oxide or nitrosyl cpds. The process can be operated continuously or batchwise.

Abstract: To separate solid particles from liquids or gas, the liquid or the gas is passed through a coil, formed from one or more threads wound on a carrier. After subsequent washing and drying, the solid which has been filtered out during the filtration process is removed by unwinding the coil from the carrier, the latter consisting of a permeable hollow cylinder closed at both end faces by means of end plates, and provided with a feed orifice.

Abstract: Finely divided, ground esp. pigmented resins of the type characterised by being non-elastic, non-fibre forming, transparent, practically insoluble, high melting and brittle, e.g. arylmonosulphonamide-aminotriazine-formaldehyde resins, are produced by reacting the resin components in a moving reactor filled with support bodies, esp. alumina balls. The amt. of resin M(g) is related to the surface of the support bodies O (sq.cm) by M/O = 1/d (where d=av.support body dia. in cm).
