    Abstract: Method for producing tertiary phosphines by reacting a compound of the general formula (I) in which A is R 1 or L 2 , B is R 2 or L 3 , the R 1 and R 2 radicals are each independently an organic radical having in each case from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, where the R 1 and R 2 radicals may also be joined together; and the leaving groups L 1 to L 3 are each independently halogen, alkyloxy having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or aryloxy having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms (a) with an alkali metal in an organic aprotic solvent and (b) a compound of the general formula (II) L 4 -R 3 (II) in which the R 3 radical is an organic radical having in each case from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; and the leaving group L 4 is halogen, alkyloxy having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or aryloxy having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms, in which the resulting reaction mixture is hydrolyzed with an aqueous base which has a pH of >= 10 and the organic phase is removed from the aqueous phase.

    Abstract: Precipitation method involves utilizing a non-polar solvent or solvent mixtures. The solution is removed with a polar solvent selectrd from hydroxyl group containing compound, has a general formula (I) and carbonyl group containing compound has general formula (II). The precipitated polymer is isolated. A replacement with the polar solvents and the separation of volatile solution components from the polymers are carried out by degassing in a stirred tank, kneading machine, thin film vaporizer, falling film evaporator or coil tube evaporator. The hydroxyl group containing compound having general formula (I), is R1>(O-A)n-OH. R1>H, 2-20C alkyl or alkenyl residue, 5-20C cycloalkyl residue or 6-20C aryl, alkyl aryl or aryl alkyl residue; A : 2-4C alkylene; and n : 0-10. The carbonyl group containing compound having general formula (II) is R2>-CO-X-R3>. R2>H, 2-20C alkyl or alkenyl residue, 5-20C cycloalkyl residue or 6-20C aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl residue; X : S or O and R3>2-20C alkyl or alkenyl residue, 5-20C cycloalkyl residue or 6-20C aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl residue.
