Mixtures of: (A) an aqueous condensation product comprising (a) 1 mol melamine and (b) 3 to 11 mol formaldehyde, and (B) a total urea quantity of 0.8 to 13 mol, in which up to 25 % of this total quantity may be contained as component (c) in the resin (A). These mixtures are suitable as adhesive resins.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Papier, Pappe und Karton mit hoher Trockenfestigkeit durch getrennte Zugabe eines Vinylamineinheiten enthaltenden Polymers und einer polymeren anionischen Verbindung zu einem Papierstoff, Entwässern des Papierstoffs und Trocknen der Papierprodukte, wobei man als polymere anionische Verbindung mindestens ein Copolymerisat einsetzt, das erhältlich ist durch Copolymerisieren (a) mindestens eines N-Vinylcarbonsäureamids der Formel (I), in der R 1 , R 2 = H oder C 1 - bis C 6 -Alkyl bedeuten, (b) mindestens eines Säuregruppen enthaltenden monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren und/oder deren Alkalimetall-, Erdalkalimetall- oder Ammoniumsalzen und gegebenenfalls (c) anderen monoethylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren, und gegebenenfalls (d) Verbindungen, die mindestens zwei ethylenisch ungesättigte Doppelbindungen im Molekül aufweisen.

Aqueous aminoplast resins with a solids content of 50 to 75 wt % and a viscosity, related to a solids content of 67 wt %, of 150 to 400 mPa.s (measured at 20 DEG C and a shear gradient of 500 s ) containing per mol melamine (component a) 0.5 to 13 mol urea (component b), 2 to 20 mol formaldehyde (component c), 0 to 1 mol phenol and/or a condensable phenol derivative (component d), 0 to 1 mol of an alkaline sulphite and/or alkaline hydrogen sulphite (component e) and 0 to 1 mol of a further condensable compound (component f), in which the ratio of the sum of the mol quantities of the (-NH2) groups originally present in components (a) and (c) to that of component (c) is 0.5:1 to 2:1.

The invention concerns a process for preparing aqueous aminoplastic resins which are suitable as binders for producing derived timber products. The process is characterized in that: a) 1 mole melamine; b) a concentrated aqueous solution of 0.5 to 5 moles urea and 3 to 6 moles formaldehyde per mole of urea, in which urea and formaldehyde can also be present in the form of their reaction products, c) 0.01 to 0.5 moles phenol or a phenol derivative which can be polycondensed, d) 0 to 9 moles formaldehyde, and e) 0 to 1 mole of a further compound which can be polycondensed are reacted with one another at 50 to 100 DEG C and a pH of 7.5 to 10.0 until the solution attains a viscosity of 10 to 1500 mPa.s, after which this solution is left to cool, and f) is mixed with 0.55 to 0.75 moles urea per mole of the total amount of urea used as components (b) and (f).

The present invention relates to the use of water-soluble copolymers consisting of such characteristic structural elements as a) acrylic acid amide of the general formula (I), where R1 et R2 stand, independently of each other, for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, and b) units of the general formula (II), where A represents a chemical bond or an alkyl group, the R3 residues stand, independently of each other, for H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or arakyl or, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are linked, an aromatic or non aromatic five to seven member heterocyclic ring, possibly mono- or polysubstituted, possibly containing one or two more heteroatoms chosen from among O, N or S, and capable of being annelated with another aromatic or non aromatic five to seven member ring, and R4 represents H, alkyl or aralkyl. The invention relates to a method for producing high dry strength paper, paperboard or cardboard by separately adding a vinyl amine unit-containing polymer and a polymeric anionic compound to a paper pulp, draining the paper pulp and drying the paper products. The inventive method is characterized by using at least one copolymer as the polymeric anionic compound which is obtained by copolymerizing (a) at least one N-propenoic acid amide of formula (I), wherein R1, R2 = H or C1 to C6 alkyl, (b) at least one acid group-containing monoethylenically unsaturated monomer and/or the alkali metal salts, alkaline earth metal salts or ammonium salts thereof and optionally (c) other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, and optionally (d) compounds that comprise at least two ethylenically unsaturated double bonds in the molecule.
