    Abstract: A process for preparing trioxane from trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn=3) by converting trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether in the presence of an acidic catalyst and subsequent distillative workup of the reaction mixture, comprising the steps of: a) feeding trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn=3) or a mixture comprising trioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether into a reactor and converting it in the presence of an acidic catalyst to a mixture a comprising trioxane, formaldehyde, water, methylene glycol (MG), polyoxymethylene glycols (MGn>1), methanol, hemiformals (HF), methylal (POMDMEn=1) and polyoxymethylene glycol dimethyl ethers (POMDMEn>1); b) distillatively separating the reaction mixture a into a low boiler fraction b1 comprising formaldehyde, water, methylene glycol, methanol, hemiformal (HFn=1), methylal and dioxymethylene glycol dimethyl ether (POMDMEn=2), and a high boiler fraction b2 comprising trioxane, polyoxymethylene glycols (MGn>1), hemiformals (HFn>1) and polyoxymethylene glycol dimethyl ethers (POMDMEn>2); c) distillatively separating the high boiler fraction b2 into a low boiler fraction c1 comprising trioxane, and a high boiler fraction c2 comprising polyoxymethylene glycols (MGn>1), hemiformals (HFn>1) and polyoxymethylene glycol dimethyl ethers (POMDMEn>2).

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la separación de una mezcla líquida de productos, que contiene, al menos, un componente fácilmente volátil y, al menos, un componente difícilmente volátil, en un evaporador de película, según el cual (i) se prepara una corriente continua de una mezcla de partida líquida, (ii) se genera a partir de la corriente continua una película líquida y se pone en contacto con una superficie intercambiadora de calor del evaporador de película, (iii) la película líquida se evapora en parte, con lo que se obtiene una corriente gaseosa enriquecida en componentes fácilmente volátiles y una corriente líquida enriquecida en componentes difícilmente volátiles, estando (iv) la superficie intercambiadora de calor recubierta con un material catalíticamente activo, que (v) cataliza una reacción química en la película líquida, en la que se forma, al menos, un componente fácilmente volátil, caracterizado porque la mezcla líquida de los productos de partida es una solución acuosa de formaldehído, los componentes fácilmente volátiles se eligen entre el grupo constituido por el formaldehído libre (CH2O), el metilenglicol (HOCH2OH) y el agua, los componentes difícilmente volátiles se eligen entre el grupo constituido por los polioximetilenglicoles (HO(CH 2O) nH) con 2 hasta 20 unidades de oximetileno (n = 2 - 20), y la reacción química catalizada es la condensación catalizada con ácidos o con bases del metilenglicol y de los polioximetilenglicoles, formándose a partir de polioximetilenglicoles de bajo peso molecular polioximetilenglicoles de elevado peso molecular y formándose agua como componente fácilmente volátil.

    Abstract: A method for separating a liquid mixture containing readily-volatile and sparingly-volatile components involves using a film evaporator with a heat-exchange surface which is coated with material which catalyses the formation of readily-volatile component(s) in the liquid film. A method for separating a liquid mixture containing (A) readily-volatile and (B) sparingly-volatile components in a film evaporator by (i) producing a continuous stream of a liquid starting mixture, (ii) producing a liquid film from the mixture and bringing it into contact with a heat-exchange surface of the evaporator, and (iii) partly evaporating the film to give two gas streams rich in (A) and (B) respectively. In this method, (iv) the heat-exchange surface is coated with a catalytic material and (v) a chemical reaction in which (A) is/are formed is catalysed in the liquid film. An independent claim is also included for a film evaporator with a heat-exchanger wall which is coated with catalytic material.
