Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for producing superabsorbent foams comprising the steps of foaming an aqueous mixture comprising at least one monoethylenically unsaturated monomer bearing acid groups, at least one blowing agent, at least one crosslinker and at least one surfactant, polymerizing the foamed mixture and drying the polymerized mixture, to the foams and also to their use for absorbing aqueous fluids.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composite material, comprising at least one superabsorbent polymer and at least one elastic aminoplastic foam as a supporting material, to hygienic products, sealing materials, insulating substances, drying agents, water accumulators, packagings and artificial plant substrates, containing a composite material, and to a method for the production of a composite material that contains at least one elastic aminoplastic foam as a supporting material and at least one superabsorbent polymer, said method comprising the steps: A) providing an aqueous solution or dispersion that contains precursor compounds of the at least one elastic aminoplastic foam and optionally other additives; B) adding at least one superabsorbent polymer to the aqueous solution or dispersion of step A); and C) polymerizing the precursor compounds of the at least one elastic aminoplastic foam in the aqueous solution or dispersion of step B), in order to obtain the composite material by heating.
Abstract:
A superabsorbent foam contains at least 1% by weight, based on the total weight of the dry foam, of an inorganic powdery solid and carries graphical symbols on at least one of its surfaces. Said foam can be obtained by a method which is characterized by polymerizing a foamed monomer mixture that contains a corresponding amount of the inorganic solid in a mold that carries graphical symbols on at least one of its inner surfaces.
Abstract:
A process for preparing water-absorbing polymer beads by polymerizing droplets comprising at least one monomer in a gas phase surrounding the droplets, the droplets being obtained by enveloping a first monomer solution with a second monomer solution and polymerizing the second monomer solution and polymerizing to give a more highly crosslinked polymer than the first monomer solution.
Abstract:
A fire extinguishing and/or retardant composition, contains at least one water absorbing polymer and at least one alkaline salt of a non-polymeric saturated carboxylic acid. The composition also contains water, and a foaming agent.
Abstract:
Mixture (A) comprises pieces of open-cell aminoplastic foam material with an average diameter of 50 mu m to 5 mm (average weight), water, at least one surfactant and optionally an oil phase or a fat phase. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for cleaning surfaces comprising using (A) as the cleaning agent and (2) the preparation of (A).
Abstract:
Polymeric particles capable of absorbing blood and/or body fluids, the polymeric particles being coated with at least one surfactant and with at least one solvent, are produced and used for absorbing blood and/or body fluids, especially in hygiene articles.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing low viscose polymergels by mixing a water-absorbing polymer with water. A chelating agent is added in order to reduce viscosity. The invention also relates to the use of said gel in fire fighting.
