A centrifugation system (10) includes a frame (12) having at least one weight supporting member (450) for engaging a support surface lying in a generally horizontal plane. The system also includes a centrifuge assembly (230), supported by a base (464) and including a chamber having an axis of rotation (344), which lies in a plane offset from a vertical plane orthogonal to the support surface. The sloped centrifuge conserves vertical height and makes possible for all components to be located in a zone between the user's chest and knees when standing.

A centrifuge (10) comprising a yoke element (348) that rotates about a rotational axis (344) and a processing chamber (230) having an axis. The processing chamber includes a bowl element (374), a spool element (376), and a mechanism (360) for joining spool and bowl elements for relative movement between a mutually cooperating position for centrifugal processing and a mutually separated position for loading. A hinge (370) attaches the processing chamber (230) to the yoke element (348) for pivotal movement between an operating position and an access position. In the operating position, the spool (376) and bowl elements (374) are in their mutually cooperating position and oriented for rotation with the yoke element about the rotational axis. In the access position, the processing chamber axis lies outside the axis of rotation and the spool (376) and the bowl elements (374) are oriented for movement from their mutually cooperating position into their mutually separated position.
Abstract:
A peristaltic pumping apparatus includes a peristaltic pump rotor (298) and pump race (296). A pump tube holder (250) includes a body for supporting a flexible tubing loop (134, 136) in an erect, outwardly bowed position for placement within the pump race and for removal from the pump race. A surface juxtaposed the peristaltic pump rotor and race carries a gripping jaw assembly (270). The gripping jaw assembly opens to receive the pump tube holder body as the body is moved toward the pump rotor to place the tubing loop within the pump race. The gripping jaw assembly closes to secure the pump tube holder body on the surface in an orientation in which the tubing loop lies within the pump race for engagement with the peristaltic pump rotor.
