Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber blend suitably used to form a highly reinforced abrasion-resistant molding by incorporating at least one hydroxyl-containing solution-polymerized rubber synthesized from a diolefin and monomers. SOLUTION: The hydroxyl-containing solution-polymerized rubber contains 0.1-5 wt.% combined hydroxyl groups. It is desirable that a solution containing a hydroxyl-containing solution-polymerized rubber is mixed with 0.5-500 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. rubber filler being oxide or silicate in an organic solvent, and the solvent is removed from the mixture by treatment with steam. The diolefin is desirably 1,3-butadiene or isoprene, and the aromatic monomer is desirably styrene. A vulcanized rubber article made from a rubber blend prepared by mixing the solution-polymerized rubber with a filler and, optionally, other rubbers and rubber aids exhibits particularly high abrasion resistance. This can be used to produce a silica-filled tire tread needed to have particularly high wet grip and low rolling resistance.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinking agent which can give a vulcanized rubber improved in heat load capacity in the production and service and reduced in the tendency toward reversion by using a silane. SOLUTION: At least one silane represented by the formula: R R R Si-X -(-Sx - Y-)m -(-Sx -X -SiR R R )n (wherein R to R are each a 1-18C alkyl, an alkoxyl, a 6-14C aryl, an aryloxy, a 7-18C alkylaryl, an alkylaryloxy; X and X are each a 1-12C alkylene; Y is a (6-12C aryl-, 1-8C alkoxyl- or hydroxyl-substituted) 1-18C (O-, S-, N- or 6-12C aromatic-interrupted alkylene, a 6-12C arylene or a heteroarylene; m is 21-80; n is 1-6; and x is 1-12) is used in an amount of 0.1-15wt.% based on the rubber used. Examples of the supports which can be desirably used include silica, silicates, aluminum oxide/aluminum hydroxide and carbon black.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of polyether-polycarbonate block copolymers, if appropriate combined with surfactants, as coatings for synthetic articles, to coated synthetic articles and to a process for the production of the coated articles. The coatings can also contain customary stabilisers.
