4,4'-Dinitrodibenzyle werden hergestellt, indem man 4-Nitrotoluole in Gegenwart eines organischen Lösungs- und/oder Verdünnungsmittels mit einem Alkali- und/oder Erdalkalialkoholat umsetzt und anschließend das Reaktionsgemisch mit einer wäßrigen Lösung von unterhalogenigen Säuren und/oder deren Salzen oder mit Chlor, Brom oder einer wäßrigen Lösung von Wasserstoffperoxid und/oder dessen Salzen oder mit organischen oder anorganischen Persäuren und/oder deren Salzen behandelt.

The novel features in the mfr. of heat-hardenable, one-component polyurethanes on the basis of (A) polyisocyanates, (B) high mol.wt. reactive H cpds. and opt. also (c) low mol.wt. chain extenders or crosslinkers, plasticisers, catalyst and/or other conventional additives, are that (i) (A) is a finely-divided polyisocyanate 0.1-25 equiv.% of whose NCO surface gps. are de-activated; and (ii) (B) is a mixt. of (B1) 5-40 wt.% (based on (B)) of an aliphatic polyether-polyamine and (B2) 95-60 wt.% polyol mixt. consisting of (a) 10-60 wt.% polyesterpolyol with a carboxylic acid ester and/or polycarboxylic acid ester structure; and (b) 90-40 wt.% polyether-polyol with mainly prim. OH functionality.

A N,N'-disubstituted N-(2-hydroxyalkyl) urea is prepared from hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer having a reduced free isocyanate group content and is non-crystalline. A non-crystalline N,N'-disubstituted N-(2-hydroxyalkyl) urea (I) is of formula (1) (1) R = a residue of a trimerised hexamethylene diisocyanate having a reduced free NCO group content; R = an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon having up to 18C atoms, optionally substituted by hydroxyl, cyano or halogen; R = 1-12 alkyl n = 3.0-5.0 on average.

A novel process for the production of mouldings having a density of at least 250 kg/m from polyurethane foams having a compact surface by foam moulding a polyurethane-forming starting mixture using organic carboxylic acids as the blowing agent, and the mouldings obtained by this process.

Compact or cellular, elastic mouldings, with a closed surface, are prepd. from polyurethane-urea elastomers based on (a) polyisocyanates, (b) higher mol. polyhydroxy or polyamino cpds. with at least 2 reactive H, (c) as chain extender a diaminodiphenylurea of formula (I) opt. (d) catalysts, (e) small amts. of ethylene glycol, (f) further chain extenders and/or cross-linking agents, (g) blowing agents and (h) side and/or additives. Components (a)-(g) are processed as a 1-shot system by high or low pressure reaction injection moulding. In (I) R1-R4 = H or 1-6C alkyl, and the amino gps. are in m-and/or p-position to the urea gp.. (c) (I) is used as a powder with grain size 1-50 (3-10) microns, and may contain a higher mol., multi-ring prod. of formula (Ia), where n = at least 2.
