    Abstract: Acylated 5-aminoisothiazole derivatives (I) are new. Acylated 5-aminoisothiazole derivatives of formula (I) are new. R1 = alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylamino, dialkylamino or optionally substituted cycloalkyl; R2 = H, halo, CN, NO2, thiocyanato, alkoxycarbonyl, alkenyloxycarbonyl, alkylthio, haloalkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, haloalkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, haloalkylsulfonyl, thiocarbamoyl, alkoxy, formyl, alkylcarbonyl or CR7=NOR8; R7, R8 = H, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl or optionally substituted aryl or arylalkyl; R3 = alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylcarbonyloxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonyloxyalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, aralkyl or arylalkoxyalkyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, cycloalkoxyalkyl or cycloalkylthioalkyl or N=CR5R6; R5, R6 = H, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl or cycloalkylalkyl or optionally substituted aryl or arylalkyl; or R5+R6 = an optionally substituted carbocyclic ring; R4 = optionally substituted aryl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl or heterocyclyl; A, Z = O or S; Y = optionally substituted alkylene, alkenylene or alkyleneoxy. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) the preparation of (I); and (b) intermediates of formula (IV) and (VIA).     Abstract: The invention relates to the use of partially known 1,2,3-thiadiazole carboxylic acid (thio)esters of formula (I), in which R is hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted aryl; R is optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, optionally substituted cycloalkenyl or optionally substituted aryl; and Q is oxygen or sulphur, and the use of acid addition salts and metal salt complexes of said esters to protect plants well from attack by undesirable micro-organisms and to control animal pests. Particular 1,2,3-thiadiazole carboxylic acid (thio)esters of formula (I) are novel.
