Abstract: In an information processing apparatus for causing a printer to execute a printing operation by registering a font therein, there is disclosed a configuration allowing the information processing apparatus to manage the font to be registered in the printer thereby preventing the failure in the printing operation. The information processing apparatus issues a command for reserving a memory for font registration in the printer, then calculates the available capacity based on the reserved memory capacity at the transfer of the font to the printer, and executes transfer or deletion of the font based on thus calculated available capacity.

Then, a value that the maximum character height in the row that the cursor 54 exists is subtracted from the sum of the obtained L and H is made an amount to be scrolled. Then, lower scroll is performed based on the obtained amount. In such a manner, since the scroll display is performed based on the height of the character, the document display without the sense of incongruity becomes possible.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize overlay printing at a low cost. SOLUTION: An image data compressed for each page is sent to a printer from a host 1. In the printer 100, each page is stored in a receiving buffer 9. When overlay printing is carried out, the image data of two pages to be overlaid is extended for each band with an expansion circuit 13, and compressed again with a compression circuit 14 after superimposing in a band memory. The compressed image data is again arranged for each page, and stored in a receiving buffer. An overlay image generated thus is sent to an engine part 3 with an image expansion video transfer circuit 6, which is printed on paper to be outputted. Not only the overlay but also processing wherein a plurality of pages are reduced to one page and outputted, can be carried out in a band unit. A slight circuit is thus added to an ordinary image printer, and overlay printing becomes capable of being printed by overlaying.
