Abstract: A display apparatus includes: a display unit for displaying images, a backlight unit disposed behind the display unit for illuminating the display unit, an inverter unit for electrically controlling the backlight unit, a controller unit for controlling the inverter unit and the display unit, and a power supply unit having an exothermic heat distribution for supplying electricity to the inverter unit and the controller unit. The inverter unit and controller unit are disposed behind the backlight unit. The power supply unit is disposed on a side of the display unit, backlight unit, inverter unit and controller unit. The display unit, backlight unit, inverter unit, controller unit and power supply unit are disposed in a common housing. The inverter unit and said controller unit are arranged behind the backlight unit. An insulating member is further disposed between the power supply unit and the display unit at a position corresponding to a region of relatively large exothermic heat of the power supply unit so that the insulating member is disposed at a diagonal position with respect to the inverter unit. The display apparatus may be supported by a support structure including vertically tilting and laterally turning mechanisms.

SOLUTION: A level variable circuit 32 changes the speech level of an inputted speech signal by a gain based on a control signal from a control circuit 44, and applies the speech signal with the changed gain to an output terminal 34 and a level detection circuit 36. The level detection circuit 36 detects the average level of the speech signal outputted from the level variable circuit 32, and outputs a DC voltage indicating the average level of the speech signal. An A/D converter 38 digitizes the output voltage of the level detection circuit 36. An error detection circuit 40 compares the output of the A/D converter 38 with a reference value 42, and outputs an error signal indicating the comparison result (a difference between the output of the A/D converter and the reference value) to the control circuit 44. While inputted with a volume setting operation signal from an operation device 46, the control circuit 44 controls the gain of the level variable circuit 32 according to the output of the error detection circuit 40 so that the output speech level of the level variable circuit 32 may be constant. When the input of the volume setting operation signal from the operation device 46 is stopped, the control circuit 44 holds the control signal up to that time.
