Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a communication equipment to flexibly deal even with the different communication line standards for every country by constituting the equipment of a communication unit having the functions dealing with the communication lines and a connection main body and allowing the equipment to deal with plural communication specifications by the exchange of units. CONSTITUTION:In a facsimile equipment, a communication equipment is controlled in accordance with the program stored in a RAM 12 in a CPU 10. Therefore, the communication equipment is constituted of a RAM 14, a memory 15, an operation unit 16, a display device 18, a buzzer 20, a sensor device 22, an image processor 24, an image reader 28, a driving device 30 and a power source 32. In order to operate these devices, the execution program of the CPU 10 is stored in a ROM 12, an initialization is performed for the whole of the equipment after the power source is turned on and the mode is made a standby/ mode. Namely, the presence or absence of a communication card is examined, the setting of card is urged if the communication request from a user exists even if the card does not exist and the copying is executed. When the copying is terminated, the state is returned to an original standby state.

After the presence of original recording paper is checked, the ECM communication mode is decided corresponding to the consecutive depression time of a start key and the communication speed, the transmission level and the speaker level of a speaker section 1-13. Thus, the optimum communication condition is set automatically in matching with how to connect a terminal equipment to the NCU section 1-9 depending on the consecutive depression time of the start key to improve the operability of the operator and monitoring is attained during facsimile communication and it is confirmed to enhance the line utilizing efficiency.

Thus, transmission control can preferentially be executed for the transmission request of high priority.

A 'reception mode set and reception start' construction is sent to the MODEM-pump from the class 1 control section.

The facsimile equipment 201 sends the data according to the sequence. The processing is repeated for each input of cover pages.
