The organic light emitting device includes: an anode, a cathode, and an organic compound layer being placed between the anode and the cathode and including at least a hole transport layer and an emission layer, in which: the emission layer contains a blue light emitting material; the hole transport layer contains a plurality of kinds of organic compounds; and an organic compound having the smallest ionization potential among the organic compounds includes a compound having no absorption spectrum peak in a blue color wavelength region in a radical cation state.

Abstract: A roll stamper (3) comprises a roll substrate (11) and a stamper (13) fixed thereto having a convexity and concavity preformat pattern, wherein the stamper has an auxiliary layer comprising a material different from that of the stamper, on the back of the surface on which the convexity and concavity preformat pattern is formed and the roll substrate has a low-melting metal layer (12) on its surface, the auxiliary layer (14) being brought into contact with the low-melting metal layer (12) so that the stamper (13) is fixed to the roll substrate (11). The roll stamper (3) for continuously preparing a substrate used for optical recording mediums, having a convexity and concavity preformat pattern, is prepared by a process comprising the steps of; forming a low-melting metal layer (12) on a roll substrate (11); forming an auxiliary layer (14) comprising a material different from that of the stamper, on the back of a stamper having on its surface a pattern corresponding with convexity and concavity preformat pattern; overlaying said stamper (13) on said roll substrate (11) in such a manner that said low-melting metal layer (12) comes into contact with said auxiliary layer (14); and thereafter melting said low-melting metal layer so that the stamper is fixed to the roll substrate (11). The substrate used for an optical recording medium is prepared by a process comprising continuous steps of melting a resin and extruding the molten resin to form a resin sheet and pressing the resin sheet, before it cures, between a roll stamper and a pressure roll disposed opposingly to the roll stamper, to transfer a preformat pattern to the resin sheet.

Abstract: A mold (3) for cast molding of a substrate for information recording medium (5) has an uneven preformat pattern, wherein said uneven preformat pattern formed on the mold surface has at least a pattern corresponding to tracking grooves (1) and information pits (2), each information pit portion has a size with a length b in the direction parallel to the pattern of the tracking groove (1) of 2 to 15 mu m and a width a in the direction perpendicular thereto of 1 to 6 mu m and a height c of 300 to 3500 ANGSTROM , and said pit pattern has a pitch which is 1.8-fold or more of said pit length b. A method for preparing a substrate for information recording medium (5) having an uneven preformat uses a mold (3) for cast molding which is characterized in that an uneven preformat pattern corresponding to said uneven preformat formed on the mold surface has at least a pattern corresponding to tracking grooves (1) and information pits (2), each information pit portion (2) has a size with a length b in the direction parallel to the pattern of the tracking groove of 2 to 15 mu m and a width a in the direction perpendicular thereto of 1 to 6 mu m and a height c of 300 to 3500 ANGSTROM , and said pit pattern has a pitch which is 1.8-fold or more of said pit length b. A method for preparing an information recording medium (5) comprises the following steps: the step of preparing a substrate for information recording medium (5) on which uneven preformat with at least tracking grooves (1) and information pits (2) is formed by use of a mold for cast molding (3), said mold for cast molding (3) having an uneven preformat pattern corresponding to said uneven preformat formed on the mold surface, the information pit portion (2) of said uneven preformat pattern having a size of a length b of 2 to 15 mu m and a width a of 1 to 6 mu m and a height c of 300 to 3500 ANGSTROM , and said pit pattern having a pitch which is 1.8-fold or more of said pit length b; and the step of forming a recording layer on said substrate for information recording meidum (2).

Abstract: An ink jet printing method and apparatus using a color ink (Da) and a print performance improving ink (Db) which minimizes an image quality degradation due to blank lines formed by failed or faulty nozzles. This system enables the use of a print head (21-1 to 21-5) even with failed or faulty nozzles by minimizing the image quality degradation and extends the life of the print head (21-1 to 21-5) before replacement. The print performance improving ink (Db) is not ejected and landed near a blank line, thus allowing the color ink dots (Da) near the blank line to spread and thereby making the blank line undistinguishable.

Abstract: An optical recording medium includes in sequence a transparent substrate, a light-reflecting layer, a transparent intermediate layer and a light-absorbing layer. The light-reflecting layer and the light-absorbing layer are respectively formed as a layer of an organic coloring matter. The light-absorbing layer can cause deformation for recording information accompanied with a local charge in thickness of the transparent intermediate layer in response to a recording beam indicated to the light-absorbing layer through the transparent substrate. The transparent substrate, the light-reflecting layer, the transparent intermediate layer and the light-absorbing layer in combination constitutes a multilayer optical element with respect to a reproducing beam having a prescribed wavelength and incident to the light-absorbing layer through the transparent substrate, the multi-layer optical element showing a minimum reflectance and a maximum reflectance of the reproducing beam at an incident surface of the optical recording medium at different thicknesses of the transparent intermediate layer. The transparent intermediate layer is formed in a thickness providing a mediate reflectance between the maximum and minimum transmittances. At the record pit, the multi-layer optical element is converted into a fresh element providing a successive reflectance change including a higher and a lower reflectance with respect to the reference reflectance at non-record parts, due to the change in thickness of the transparent intermediate layer.
