Abstract:
In various embodiments, the present invention provides a tooth whitening composition comprising a peroxide composite and an orally acceptable carrier. The peroxide composite comprises a peroxide compound and a porous cross-linked polymer, preferably in the form of a microporous particulate. The peroxide compound can be sorbed onto the porous crosslinked polymer. The porous cross-linked polymer may comprise a polymerized polyunsaturated monomer selected from polyacrylates, polymethacrylates, polyitaconates, and mixtures thereof. The carrier can be non-aqueous, and can comprise a film forming material. Methods are also provided for whitening a tooth surface with the tooth whitening compositions.
Abstract:
An aqueous abrasive whitening composition containing a peroxide whitening compound which is chemically and physically stable and exhibits heightened and rapid whitening of teeth and stain removal which comprises a combination of water, abrasive and peroxide compounds, a humectant containing a polyethylene glycol, a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer, a metal ion complexing agent and an antioxidant, the pH of the composition being in the range of about 5.8 to about 7.2.
Abstract:
A composition for minimizing color fading of an oral care composition is provided. The composition comprises: a) an organic dye-encapsulated silica shell nanoparticle matrix, b) a physiologically stable fluoride ion providing compound in an amount of about 0.1 % to about 1 % by weight, c) a peroxide species providing compound in an amount of about 1 % to about 20% by weight. The encapsulated silica shell dye nanoparticle stabilizes the color against degradation in the presence of peroxide and fluoride ions.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a cross-linked alkyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer having improved linear viscoelastic properties desired in oral care preparations, wherein the cross-linking of an alkyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer with a polyol compound is carried out at a temperature of from about 50 to about 90 DEG C and the cross-linked product is recovered.
Abstract:
A method for improving effectiveness of an oral care agent comprises preconditioning an oral surface by wiping the surface with an absorbent fabric having impregnated therein or coated thereon an orally acceptable preconditioning agent such as an activating agent for the oral care agent, wherein the wiping transfers an activating effective amount of the preconditioning agent from the fabric to the oral surface, and thereafter applying a composition comprising the oral care agent to the oral surface.
Abstract:
A light duty liquid detergent with desirable cleansing properties and mildness to the human skin comprising: at least one surfactant, a solubilizing system and a crosslinked polymer and water.
