Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a sensing agent. The sensing agent comprises a quantum dot; and a dye moiety coupled to the quantum dot. The sensing agent is capable of sensing at least one analyte chosen from hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) and bisulfide. Sensors made from the sensing agents are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a method for determining the bioavailability of a metal ion in a composition comprising a source of the metal ion, wherein the metal ion has antimicrobial activity, and wherein the method comprises: a) incubating a sample of the composition with bacterial cells, and b) determining the viability of the bacterial cells after incubation. The method is useful for determining the effect of agents on the bioavailability of metal ions in a composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a stable whitening dentifrice composition including a whitening complex, wherein the whitening complex comprises (a) a whitening agent and (b) a cross-linked vinyl lactam based polymer. The stable whitening dentifrice composition further includes a blue pigment having a blue to blue-violet color with a hue angle in the CIELAB system ranging from 200 degrees to 320 degrees, a zinc salt, and an orally acceptable vehicle. Methods of using the composition to whiten tooth surfaces are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a tooth whitening oral care composition comprising: (i) a dye having a blue to blue-violet color with a hue angle in the CIELAB system ranging from 200 to 320 degrees; (ii) core shell silica particles, wherein each core shell silica particle comprises a silica core, and a surface of the silica core is etched with metal silicate; (iii) an orally acceptable carrier vehicle comprising a non-aqueous solvent; and wherein the composition comprises water in an amount of from 3 weight % to 30 weight %.
Abstract:
In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to oral care compositions comprising a source of zinc, a fluoride source, a zwitterionic surfactant and a taurate surfactant. In one aspect the compositions of the disclosure can be used for the treatment or reduction of erosive tooth demineralization, gingivitis, plaque, and dental caries. In one aspect the oral care composition includes zinc citrate, zinc oxide, arginine, cocamidopropyl betaine and at least one taurate surfactant (e.g., sodium methyl cocoyl taurate).
Abstract:
A tooth whitening oral care composition is made by combining ingredients comprising flakes of a water soluble whitening film, a dye with a hue angle in the CIELAB system ranging from 200 to 320 degrees, and an orally acceptable carrier vehicle. The flakes of the water soluble whitening film comprise: (a) a film-forming polymer comprising hydroxyalkyl cellulose wherein the hydroxyalkyl cellulose has a viscosity of about 1 to about 1000 millipascal seconds (mPa.s) as determined as a 2% by weight aqueous solution of the film-forming polymer at 20 C using a Ubbelohde tube viscometer; and (b) a pigment with a hue angle in the CIELAB system ranging from 200 to 320 degrees.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an oral care composition comprising from 3 to 12 weight% calcium pyrophosphate and from 10 to 19 weight% precipitated silica, based on the total weight of the composition, wherein the precipitated silica has a pellicle cleaning ratio of greater than 85. The present invention further provides a method of cleaning and/or polishing and/or whitening an oral surface comprising contacting the oral surface with the oral care composition.
