Abstract:
Apparatus for anal and/or stomal irrigation is provided, including an irrigation system, adapter and method. The irrigation system comprises a reservoir for an irrigation liquid; a tubing system with a first end connectable to the reservoir, and a second end connectable to a catheter or an adapter for provision of a first fluid path for the irrigation liquid between the reservoir and the catheter comprising a distal end for expelling irrigation liquid from the catheter; and a pump operable to pump the irrigation liquid from the reservoir to the second end of the tubing system, wherein the irrigation system comprises a mechanical pressure control device, the pressure control device having an inlet side and an outlet side, wherein the inlet side is connected to a reservoir side of the first fluid path and the outlet side is connected to a catheter side of the first fluid path, wherein the pressure control device is configured to keep liquid pressure on the outlet side less than a first pressure threshold.
Abstract:
An irrigation system for anal and/or stomal irrigation is disclosed. The irrigation system comprises a reservoir for an irrigation liquid; a tubing system with a first end connectable to the reservoir, and a second end connectable to a catheter for provision of a first fluid path for the irrigation liquid between the reservoir and the catheter comprising a distal end for expelling irrigation liquid from the catheter; one or more pressure sensors including a first pressure sensor for provision of a first pressure signal; a pump operable to pump the irrigation liquid from the reservoir to the second end of the tubing system; and a control system connected to the first pressure sensor and configured to operate the pump based on the first pressure signal, wherein the tubing system comprises a pressure channel and a first membrane, wherein the first membrane is arranged between the first fluid path and the pressure channel, and the first pressure sensor is configured to measure the pressure in the pressure channel.
Abstract:
A system for anal and/or stomal irrigation comprises a reservoir (102) for an irrigating liquid, a catheter (100) comprising a catheter tip for insertion into the rectum or stoma of a user and for expelling of the irrigating liquid from the catheter tip, and a tubing system (121) providing a conduit for the irrigating liquid between the reservoir and the catheter tip. A pump (101) is provided to pump the irrigating liquid from the reservoir to the catheter tip, and a control system (103) controls a flow condition, such as the amount of liquid expelled at the catheter tip. A sensor (153) determines a measure of pressure in at least one first predetermined position in the tubing system and/or the catheter during operation of the pump, on the basis of which the flow condition is estimated. The control system is configured to control the pumping operation of the pump in response to the measure of pressure.
