Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell electrolyte sheet with a surface uneven pattern having an allowable distortion of 0.5% or higher in whatever direction of sheet surface. SOLUTION: An unfired flexible ceramic sheet containing a ceramic powder and a thermoplastic organic binder is formed, and at least a portion of the unfired ceramic sheet is heated to soften the binder to form a thermally softened sheet. The softened sheet is reformed to form a pleated sheet, having a sheet uneven array forming multidirectional surface pleats on at least a portion of the sheet. The pleated sheet is fired to remove the binder and sinter the ceramic powder to form a flexible ceramic sheet with the multidirectional surface pleats.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability in fusion and damage by thermal shock of a porous ceramic filter for diesel exhaust gas. SOLUTION: The ceramic filter for trapping and burning diesel exhaust particulates provides improved structure of which durabilty in cracking by heat and damage by fusion are very high. The ceramic filter comprises a honeycomb filter body 20 made of porous ceramic material, in which plural cell channels parallel to each other and passing through the filter body from an inflow end face 22 to a discharge end face 24 are included, and a part of the cell channels are blocked to form a non-checkered pattern and the remaining cell channels are blocked to form a checkered pattern. The inflow end face of the honeycomb filter body has a checkered pattern blocked section and a non-checkered pattern blocked section. Further, the honeycomb filter body may have a plurality of block plugs in the cell channels, or may have a plurality of partial cell channels that extend up to a predetermined point in the honeycomb filter and are not blocked at the inflow end face.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to form high-quality film without cracks on a honeycomb matrix of high passageway density by applying a soft film inside of porous inorganic monolithic substrate provided with penetrating passageways, and applying pressure to the film to bond the film to the substrate. SOLUTION: A substrate is a monolithic object to pass fluid, which is any side and shape dependent on usage, for example, of ceramic, glass ceramic, glass, metal, and combination of them. Coating martial is preferably polymeric material applied to the inside of the passageways of the substrate as a thin film. Fusing or bonding of film to the inner passageways of the substrate can be performed using any technique for making adhering condition for adhering by applying pressure of a certain extent. For example, by heating the coating material and/or substrate for softening the polymer film, the fusing can be performed.

Abstract: The inventions relates to a tape separation system for sintering preparation, the system comprising: a source of tape material comprising a green tape and a carrier web supporting the green tape, the green tape comprising grains of inorganic material in a binder; a peeler for directing the carrier web in a rewind direction and directing the green tape in a downstream processing direction that differs from the rewind direction; and a vacuum drum positioned and configured to receive the tape material from the source and convey the tape material to the peeler, wherein the vacuum drum comprises holes for applying suction to the carrier web to facilitate tensioning the carrier web, and wherein tension, in force per cross-sectional area, in the carrier web is greater than tension in the green tape as the tape material is conveyed from the vacuum drum to the peeler, thereby mitigating deformation of the green tape during separation of the green tape from the carrier web.
