Abstract:
A suturing assembly includes shaft attached between a handle and a head. The handle includes a brace and an actuator attached to the handle, where the actuator has a neutral position that is distal the brace. The shaft defines a longitudinal axis of the assembly. The head includes a proximal portion housing a needle that is movable through a needle exit port, and a distal end spaced apart from the proximal portion by a throat. The distal end is radially offset from the longitudinal axis and defines a cavity. Movement of the actuator from the neutral position to the brace moves the needle both in a first direction out of the needle exit port into the cavity and in a second direction out of the cavity and into the needle exit port.
Abstract:
A penile prosthetic (24) includes a proximal tip (60) in communication with a reservoir (22), a cylinder bladder (62) connected at a proximal end to the proximal tip and extending to a distal end (76), and peristaltic tubing (64) disposed inside the cylinder bladder. The peristaltic tubing has a proximal end (78) that communicates with the reservoir and a distal end (80) that is open to the cylinder bladder. Peristaltic compression applied from the proximal end to the distal end of the peristaltic tubing pumps fluid from the reservoir into the cylinder bladder.
Abstract:
Implantable apparatuses and method of implanting the apparatuses are disclosed that provide a person with a neopenis including a penile prosthetic (1050) implanted into a neophallus. The neopenis is situated anatomically in a position of that of a location for a penis of a natal male. The neopenis is suitable for penetrative intercourse.
Abstract:
A body implantable penile prosthetic assembly includes a penile implant and a reservoir. The penile implant includes a first bladder (36) and a second bladder (32), where the second bladder contains a dilatant liquid. The reservoir (24) is connectable with the first bladder of the penile implant. In this regard, fluid transferred from the reservoir into the first bladder of the penile implant imposes a shear on the dilatant liquid in the second bladder of the penile implant to increase viscosity in the dilatant liquid and harden the penile implant.
Abstract:
A pump includes a pump bulb connected to a pump body. An exhaust valve assembly is disposed in the pump body within an exit flow path communicating between the pump bulb and the cylinder. An inlet valve is rotatably disposed in the pump body within an inlet flow path communicating between the reservoir and the pump bulb. The inlet valve includes a spherical part retained in a seat formed by the pump body, an inlet flange connected to and extending radially away from the spherical part, and a lockout flange connected to and extending radially away from the spherical part. A channel is formed through a portion of the spherical part of the inlet valve. The channel includes an outlet hole that is blocked from the inlet flow path by the seat formed in the pump body and opened to the inlet flow path by rotation of the inlet valve.
Abstract:
A lockout valve assembly (280) of an implantable penile prosthetic includes a body (132) and a lockout valve (110). The body is attachable between a reservoir and a pump of the implantable penile prosthetic. The lockout valve includes a core (120) rotatably disposed inside the body, an inflation channel (140) formed through a portion of the core, a deflation pathway separate from the inflation channel and formed through a diameter of the core, and a one-way check valve disposed in the deflation pathway of the core.
Abstract:
A system includes a tool and a suture connected to a needle. The tool includes a bore formed in a tube, and a suture slide communicating with the bore. The suture slide has a curved surface formed between an exterior surface of the tube and the bore of the tube. The needle is disposed in the bore. A segment of the suture is disposed within the bore and alongside the needle. The suture is in contact with the suture slide, and a proximal portion of the suture extends out of the bore at the suture slide. The suture slide is located forward of the back end the needle. Tension applied to the suture ejects a pointed distal end of the needle out of the distal end of the tube.
Abstract:
A surgical tool adapted for placement of a cuff of an artificial urinary sphincter around a portion of a urethra includes a head attached to a handle. The head has a recess formed in a first end surface of the head and two pads. The recess is sized to receive an inferior portion of the urethra. A first pad is located on a first side of the recess, and a second pad is located on a second side of the recess and spaced a gap distance away from the first pad. A piercing mechanism is located in and movable out of one of the first pad or the second pad. The piercing mechanism is movable across the gap distance between the first pad and the second pad to form a channel in tissue superior to the urethra.
