Abstract:
A method and apparatus determines a transfer function which defines a signal input-to-brightness output of a colour display device. Coefficients or transfer function related data are stored in the colour display device for use by a video driver so that the colour of the display device is standardized.
Abstract:
A computer system is disclosed for providing rapid access to preconfigured Internet sites. The system includes a keyboard or similar input device having switches which are closed to produce unique Internet access signals. A signal processing circuit places the computer system in communication with corresponding unique Internet sites in response to the Internet access signals. Application software is also launched as required by the particular access switch, such as for electronic commerce or electronic messaging. If the system is not yet logged onto the network, a log-on routine is executed in response to the access signals. A user may actuate the switches to rapidly access desired Internet sites and to perform operations at the sites without the need to navigate through a series of on-screen windows or menus.
Abstract:
A computer system includes a monitor having a universal serial bus (USB) interface for connecting with a base system. Multiple button and LED controls are conveniently placed on a front bezel of the monitor. As the buttons are actuated, commands are passed to the base system via the USB. An on-screen display button causes an application to be launched on the base system for modifying screen attributes stored in a monitor controller in the monitor. A USB controller in the monitor updates the monitor controller via the USB. A multifunction audio dial is toggled by a bezel button between volume, bass and treble functions. The USB controller is also operable to provide a sustain a blinking LED even while the base system is in a sleep mode. LEDs on the front bezel indicate monitor and base system power status.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus of controlling a power state of a computer, the computer being connected to a monitor having a power control button. The computer is connected to the monitor over a video cable, and activation of the power control button is communicated to the computer over a wire in the video cable. In response to the activation signal, a system management interrupt is generated to invoke an SMI handler to change the power state of the computer. The power states of the computer include an ON state, an intermediate power state (such as Sleep state), and a suspend state (such as Soft-Off state).
