Abstract:
A process for producing an aromatic carboxylic acid which comprises oxidizing an aromatic compound (B) having one or more hydrocarbon groups bonded to the aromatic ring as the only substituent(s) with oxygen in the presence of a nitrogenous cyclic compound catalyst (A) having as a component of the ring a skeleton represented by the following formula (i): [wherein X represents oxygen or -OR (R represents hydrogen or a hydroxy-protecting group)] to produce the corresponding aromatic carboxylic acid. The reaction is conducted while continuously supplying the nitrogenous cyclic compound catalyst (A), the aromatic compound (B), a reaction solvent, and oxygen to a reactor and continuously discharging the liquid reaction mixture from the reactor, under conditions in which the concentration of the aromatic compound (B) in the reaction system is 3.0 wt.% or lower. According to the process, special reaction equipment is unnecessary and an aromatic carboxylic acid can be industrially produced with high productivity without via many steps.
Abstract:
A catalyst comprised of an imide compound having an N-substituted cyclic imide skeleton represented by the general formula (I): (I) (wherein R is a hydroxyl-protecting group). The hydroxyl-protecting group (R) is preferably a hydrolyzable one and examples thereof include groups derived from carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid, carbonic acid, carbamic acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, boric acid, and so on by the removal of a hydroxyl group. The catalyst may be comprised of a combination of the above imide compound and a metal compound. Reactions of (A) radical-forming compounds with (B) radical -scavenging compounds in the presence of the above catalyst give products of addition or substitution reaction between the compounds (A) and (B) or derivatives thereof. According to the invention, organic compounds can be prepared through addition or substitution reaction or the like under mild conditions with high selectivity in high yield.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently manufacturing an aromatic carboxylic acid or an aromatic carboxylic acid anhydride without requiring special reaction equipment. SOLUTION: The aromatic carboxylic acid or the aromatic carboxylic acid anhydride is produced by oxidizing an aromatic compound having an alkyl group or a lower order oxidation group thereof bonded to its aromatic ring by oxygen in the presence of an imide compound catalyst (A) having a cyclic imide skeleton represented by formula (1) [wherein, X is an oxygen atom or -OR group (wherein, R is a protective group for a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group)] and an acid anhydride (B). As the acid anhydride (B), for example, acetic acid anhydride is designated.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organic compound by a reaction using a cyclic acylurea-based compound as the catalyst, capable of inhibiting the inactivation of the catalyst and by using a small amount of a catalyst in a good efficiency. SOLUTION: This method for producing the organic compound using the cyclic acylurea-based compound having the cyclic acylurea skeleton and expressed by formula (I) [wherein, R is H or a protecting group of hydroxy; G is carbon atom or nitrogen atom; (n) is 1 or 2, and when (n) is 2, two Gs are the same or different] as the catalyst in a reaction system forming water by the reaction is provided by performing the reaction while removing water in the system. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an aromatic carboxylic acid without a particular reactor or many production steps. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aromatic carboxylic acid is characterized by obtaining the corresponding aromatic carboxylic acid by oxidizing an aromatic compound having an aromatic ring linked with an alkyl group or its lower oxydized group with oxygen at 120 deg.C or more in the presence of a catalyst constituted by an imide-based compound having a substituted N-cyclic imide skeleton shown by formula (I) below (wherein, X is an oxygen atom or a hydroxyl group). A metal compound may be used as an auxiliary catalyst. The metal compound includes a cobalt compound, a manganese compound and a combination thereof.

PURPOSE:To obtain a method for simply producing a carbamate at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:The objective method for producing an aryl N-substituted carbamate comprises reacting an N-substituted carbamic acid ester with an aryl alcohol in the presence of a Brphinsted acid catalyst. Thereby, the objective aryl N-substituted carbamate can be produced simply by using a small amount of the inexpensive Brphinsted acid catalyst.
