Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine mixture of cerium oxide with at least one of a metal oxide and a metalloid oxide. SOLUTION: At least one of a metal oxide and a metalloid oxide each having 30-400m /g specific surface area produced by thermal decomposition is vigorously mixed with a cerium compd. convertible into cerium oxide by decomposition at an elevated temp. and the cerium compd. is converted into cerium oxide by thermal decomposition to produce the objective fine mixture of 0.001-95wt.% cerium oxide with at least one of the metal oxide and metalloid oxide produced by thermal decomposition.
