Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely produce a boron oxide-silicon dioxide mixed oxide having a specific BET surface area smaller than that of conventional mixed oxide by hydrolyzing a silicon halide and a volatile boron compound in a flame. SOLUTION: This mixed oxide has a BET surface area of /g, especially 10-80m /g. It can be produced by evaporating a silicon halide or an organosilicon halide and a volatile boron compound (e.g. trimethyl borate) separately or at the same time, supplying the vapor to a mixer, especially a burner having conventional structure with a carrier gas and mixed with hydrogen and air and, as necessary, other gases such as oxygen and nitrogen, reacting the gaseous components in the flame, cooling the hot gas and solid, separating the gas from the solid and, as necessary, removing the halide or a residual raw material attached to the product by the heat treatment with humid air.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording material of superior performance in all respects such as quick-drying properties, water absorbability, water resistance and others. SOLUTION: An ink jet recording material is provided with an ink acceptive layer containing hydrophilic resin and an inorganic pigment, and silica particles with their surface layers of silica particles doped with alumina are used as the inorganic pigment of the ink acceptive layer. The alumina doped silica particles are manufactured by a process formed of the thermal decomposition process and the flame hydrolysis process combined together, and the silica surface are doped with alumina. It is suitable that the ink acceptive layer contains 5-200 pts.wt. silica doped with alumina to 100 pts.wt. hydrophilic resin.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a pure-phase crystalline, micro- and mesoporous metallic silicate having high catalyst activities by carrying out the hydrothermal reaction using a pyrolytic metal-silicon mixed oxide as a source for silicon and a metal. SOLUTION: A pyrolytic metal-silicon-mixed oxide, preferably (SiO2 )1-x (TiO2 )x , (SiO2 )1-x (Al2 O3 )x , (SiO2 )1-x (B2 O3 )x , (SiO2 )1-x (V2 O5 )x or (SiO2 )1-x (ZrO2 )x [(x) is 0.0001-0.25] is used as a source for silicon and a metal and the hydrothermal reaction is carried out in the presence of a tetraalkylammonium hydroxide compound as a template compound at 0.05-2.0 molar ratio of OH /SiO2 . The hydrothermal reaction is conducted at 1-200 molar ratio of the H2 O/SiO2 at 100-220 deg.C temperature in the case of producing a microporous metallic silicate and 25-200 deg.C temperature in the case of producing a mesoporous metallic silicate for 1-50hr. The template compound is removed by extraction or calcining at 300-1,000 deg.C.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an aerosol which contains a highly concentrated salt solution in a gas phase and at the same time, ensures a liquid droplet spectrum having as small a liquid droplet diameter as possible. SOLUTION: This aerosol of small liquid droplet is manufactured by a device of such a functional structure that ultrasonic vibrators vibrate level with a liquid level or an a 1-20 deg. inclined plane, then each of the vibrators placed in a recessed part unexceptionally vibrates level with the liquid level or on the 1-20 deg. inclined plane, and a liquid of such a nature that its height can be controlled on a vibrating plane is present on the ultrasonic vibrators. Thus it is possible to obtain the aerosol which shows a liquid load exceeding 100 g/Nm in the gas phase and the d90 value of a liquid droplet spectrum at not more than 30 μm.

SOLUTION: A base component is an oxide obtained by in-furnace hydrolysis by a thermal decomposition method and the oxide is doped with 0.00001-20wt.% of at least one doping component. In this case, the amount of the doping can be in the range of 1-10,000ppm and the doping component is a metalloid and/or a metal, a metal or a metalloid salt or oxide. The BET surface area of the doped oxide is in a region of 5-600m /g.
