PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkali metal alcoholate and an alkaline metal alcoholate of a fatty alcohol having 1-12C and 1-6C, in a granular form to prevent risks latent in powders. SOLUTION: This invention employs a fluid bed spray granulation.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an anhydrous alkali metal sulfide which forms a particulate product and no dust and performs better heat exchange or matter exchange compared to that in conventional methods. Production of anhydrous alkali metal sulfides comprises spray drying an alkali metal sulfide, suspension, dispersion or melt with a mixture of steam and inert gas. An Independent claim is also included for apparatus for carrying out the above process, comprising a drying chamber equipped with an atomizer, a drying gas inlet, a waste gas outlet, a solid separation system connected to the outlet and comprising a waste gas discharge pipe optionally including a filter, a unit for solvent recovery from the waste gas, and equipment for recycling and conditioning the waste gas for re-use as drying gas.
