Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black dispersion which does not blot and has good storage stability. SOLUTION: This aqueous carbon black dispersion contains carbon black and a cationic surfactant in amounts of 1 to 45 wt.% and 1 to 40 wt.%, respectively, based on the total amount of the aqueous dispersion in addition to water. The aqueous carbon black dispersion in which the cationic surfactant is a compound of the general formula (3) R1-COOH is ricinoleic acid; R2 to R4 are each independently a 1 to 5C alkyl or a group of the formula [R5 is a 1 to 5C alkyl; (n) is a natural number of 1 to 5]}.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process in which deep-coloured furnace blacks can be produced directly in the furnace reactor. SOLUTION: The process for the production of furnace black by producing a stream of hot combustion gases in a combustion chamber, feeding the hot combustion gases along a flow axis from the combustion chamber through a reactor narrow point into a reaction zone, mixing carbon black raw material into the flow of the combustion gases in front of, inside or behind of the reactor narrow point and stopping carbon black formation downstream in the reaction zone by spraying in water, steam being jetted axially through the gas burner and optionally at the radial oil nozzles and beaded carbon black being introduced before and/or after the reactor narrow point. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pigment compound having excellent redispersibility, fluidity and color deepness, and slight in dust-generating tendency. SOLUTION: This pigment compound comprises a pigment and/or carbon black, a polymer and/or crosslinked polyoxyethylene acrylic acid, and a surfactant selected from the group consisting of aliphatic alcohol polyglycol ethers, polyvinylpyrrolidone, alcohol alkoxylates, alkylphenol polyglycol ethers, lignosulfonates, naphthalenesulfonic acid derivatives, and mixtures thereof. This pigment compound is produced by lyophilizing its aqueous dispersion.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dispersion solution which does not give a stain after sprayed on the substrate as well as good in storage stability by compounding carbon black, a cationic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant with water at a specific ratio. SOLUTION: 1 to 45 mass % of carbon black, 1 to 40 mass % of a cationic surfactant and 0.5 to 10 mass % of a nonionic surfactant are compounded. For the carbon black, a pigment, a pigment carbon black having an average particle size of 8 to 80 nm as the primary particles and the DBP value of 40 to 200 mg/100 g, which is prepared using a furnace method, gas black method, channel method or lamp black method, can be used. The carbon black is dispersed in water together with a wetting agent, which may be dispersed by use of a purl mill, an ultrasonic apparatus or Ultra-Turrax according to circumstances. Alternatively, it is further centrifuged or filtered. The pH of the dispersion solution is preferably 1 to 4.
