    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dispersion solution which does not give a stain after sprayed on the substrate as well as good in storage stability by compounding carbon black, a cationic surfactant and a nonionic surfactant with water at a specific ratio. SOLUTION: 1 to 45 mass % of carbon black, 1 to 40 mass % of a cationic surfactant and 0.5 to 10 mass % of a nonionic surfactant are compounded. For the carbon black, a pigment, a pigment carbon black having an average particle size of 8 to 80 nm as the primary particles and the DBP value of 40 to 200 mg/100 g, which is prepared using a furnace method, gas black method, channel method or lamp black method, can be used. The carbon black is dispersed in water together with a wetting agent, which may be dispersed by use of a purl mill, an ultrasonic apparatus or Ultra-Turrax according to circumstances. Alternatively, it is further centrifuged or filtered. The pH of the dispersion solution is preferably 1 to 4.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high optical density and excellent abrasion resistance by blending a carbon black, a surfactant and water in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This carbon black dispersion contains water, 1-40 wt.% carbon black and 1-30 wt.% surfactant. A pigment carbon black with an average primary particle diameter of 8-80 nm and a DBP value of 40-200 ml/100 g can be used as the carbon black. Preferably, a gas carbon black with an average primary particle diameter of 8-30 nm is used. A combination of two nonionic surfactants is used as the surfactant. The combination comprises (A) a crosslinked polyoxyethylene acrylic acid and (B) an alkyloxy ethylene wherein the ratio of B to A is preferably 1:2-1:10. In addition to the nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants can be additionally used, which can prevent an increase in viscosity of the dispersion during storage.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink mixture, especially, an ink jet ink having improved water resistance by using at least one silane or organosilicon compound. SOLUTION: The silane may be added to a precursor for producing a water- base ink mixture or to a finished water-base ink mixture. The silane may be added in a concentration of 0.1-15 wt.%, desirably, 0.5-2.5 wt.% to an ink composition. It is desirable that the silane used is octyltrimethoxysilane or hexadecyltrimethoxysilane. The silane may be used in the form of an aqueous emulsion. The ink mixture may be a water-containing and/or solvent-containing one. In order to improve the water resistance, it is possible to add hydrophobic silicic acid. The ink mixture is produced by adding an organosilane emulsion and optionally, pyrolytic hydrophobic silicon dioxide to a water-based pigment mixture optionally containing a surfactant.
