The average particle size is 1-12 mu m and the silica has a carbon content of 0.3-1.85 %, and when dried, it loses 2.6-10 % of its weight. It has a pH of 5.5-10. The silica is prepared by mixing a silica suspension (which has been prepared using known methods) with a material that gives the silica hydrophobic properties. The mixing takes place for a very short time at conditions of low pH and high shear. The resulting suspension is filtered and washed in salt-free conditions, and the filter cake is dried, thermally treated and powdered.

Abstract: ??cidos silícicos precipitados hidrofobos parcial, caracterizados por una humectancia de metanol de 10 a 49%, especialmente con una absorcion de DBP libre de agua mayor a 250 g/100g y con un tamaño medio de partícula de 1 a 12 um y/o contenido de carbono de 0,3 a 1,85 % y/o una pérdida de sequedad de 2,6 a 10,0 % y/o un valor de pH de 5,5 a 10,0, elaborados mediante el mezclado del agente hidrofobo con la suspension del ácido silícico precipitado durante un tiempo de tratamiento muy corto y a valor de pH bajo, se filtra la substancia solida, se lava hasta desalinizarla, se seca, posteriormente se trata de forma térmica y se muele. El ácido silícico precipitado hidrofobo parcial se puede introducir en formulaciones de substancias activas así como en formulaciones de substancias activas de substancias hidrolíticamente sensibles y en antiespumantes.

It is produced when thehydrophobic substance is mixed with the suspension of thesedimented silicic acid for a short time and at low pH. The solidsubstance is filtered, washed to the absence of salts, dried, heattreated and is ground.
