Precipitated silica with an aluminum oxide (Al2O3) content of 0.2-5.0 wt. % and a wk coefficient of less than 3.4. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a process for the production of this silica by reacting alkali silicate solution with mineral acid and aluminum salt solution in aqueous medium at 60-95 degrees C and pH 7.0-10.0 until the mixture has a solid content of 40-110 g/l, then adjusting to pH 3-5 and working up by known methods; and (b) vulcanizable rubber mixtures and vulcanized rubber containing this silica as filler.
