Abstract: A process for regenerating soot filters of diesel engines is presented. The hot engine exhaust gas is passed over an oxidation catalyst upstream of the soot filter and is then treated with a vaporised readily ignitable fuel. The amount of fuel is adjusted to reach a final adiabatic temperature of 300 - 1000 DEG C.
