Abstract: Exhaust gas cleaning device comprises an exhaust gas passage (31, 32, 33) through which exhaust gas passes from an engine (60), a nitrogen oxide cleaning catalyst (40) arranged in a part of the exhaust gas passage and a reducing agent delivery unit (10) for adding a reducing agent into an exhaust gas passage. An independent claim is also included for an exhaust gas cleaning method using the above cleaning device. Preferred Features: The reducing agent delivery unit uses exhaust gas heat as the heat for removing components having high reduction capability from a mixture consisting of a fuel for the engine. A unit (20) introduces the mixture from a mixture tank (50) to the reducing agent removal device.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of separating a high reducing capacity component from fuel and adding it into exhaust gas.
SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device comprises a nitrogen oxide eliminating catalyst, and a reducing agent adding means for adding reducing agent to the upstream side thereof. The reducing agent adding means has a separation part 12 (a separation film 121) which fuel contacts at one face side and which exhaust gas contacts at the other face side, for separating n-paraffin from fuel. The separating film 121 separates the n-paraffin on the basis of a difference in molecular size. Since the separation film 121 contacts the exhaust gas, light oil (particularly, the n-paraffin) is vaporized by the heat of the exhaust gas and the n-paraffin is quickly and efficiently separated. Remaining oil with the n-paraffin separated is collected in a fuel tank and effectively used as fuel for an internal combustion engine to suppress low mileage.
