Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicone gel composition having excellent tack. SOLUTION: The composition contains (A) 100 pts.wt. polydiorganosiloxane containing at least two alkenyl groups on average bonded to a silicon atom in the molecule and having a viscosity at 25 deg.C of 0.2-10 Pa.sec; (B) at least 0.5 pt.wt. polydiorganosiloxane containing at least two alkenyl groups on average bonded to a silicon atom in the molecule and having a viscosity (at 25 deg.C) at least 4 times that of component A; (C) an organohydrogensiloxane represented by the formula: R7Si(OSiR82H)3 (wherei n R7 is aryl or a 1-18C alkyl; and R8 is alkyl), in an amount sufficient to provide 0.1-1.5 hydrogen atoms bonded to a silicon atom for total alkenyl groups of component A and component B; and (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst in an amount sufficient to cure the composition.

Abstract: A silicone gel composition, (A) 100 parts by weight of a first polydiorganosiloxane containing an average of at least two silicon-bonded alkenyl groups per molecule and having a viscosity of from 0.2 to 10 Pa.s at 25 DEG C.; (B) at least 0.5 part by weight of a second polydiorgano-siloxane containing an average of at least two silicon-bonded alkenyl groups per molecule, wherein the second polydiorganosiloxane has a viscosity at 25 DEG C. of at least four times the viscosity of the first polydiorgano-siloxane at 25 DEG C.; (C) an organohydrogensiloxane having the average formula R Si(OSiR 2H)3 wherein R is an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms or aryl, R is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, in an amount to provide from 0.1 to 1.5 silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per alkenyl group in components (A) and (B) combined; and (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst in an amount sufficient to cure the composition. A silicone gel comprising a reaction product of the silicone gel composition. A kit for preparing a silicone gel composition.

Abstract: The present invention claims an organopolysiloxane compound having at least one group having the formula (see fig. I) wherein R3 is a divalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R5 and R6 are selected from a hydrogen atom or a group having the formula -(CnH2n+1) where n has a value from 1 to 30, R4 is selected from hydrogen atom, alkyl group or aryl group, d has a value from 0 to 150 and e has a value from 0 to 150, with the proviso that the value of d+e is greater than zero. These compounds reduce the amount of foam in hydrocarbon fuels, especially in diesel or jet fuels. Our organopolysiloxane compounds function as foam control agents which display consistent compatibility and miscibility with other fuel additives which are frequently present in hydrocarbon fuels.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method of making high purity oxyalkylene-modified organopolysiloxanes comprising reacting a mixture comprising a vinyloxy polyoxyalkylene compound, an organohydrogensiloxane compound and a platinum group metal-containing catalyst. The resulting oxyalkylene-modified organopolysiloxanes are free from unwanted odor and do not contain excess polyoxyalkylene compound since the vinyloxy polyoxyalkylene compounds are not prone to isomerization during the reaction. The oxyalkylene-modified organopolysiloxanes of this invention are particularly useful in hair care formulations, skin care formulations, cosmetics, silicone emulsions and in polyurethane foams.

In the above formulae for M and D', is a polyether containing substituent derived from a CnH2n -initiated polyether and is selected from the group consisting of: (1) -CnH2nO(C2H4O)a(C3H6O)bR' moieties having weight average molecular weights in the range 2300 - 3400 and wherein n is 3-4; the ratio a/b us from 0.5 to 1.3 inclusive; R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group 1-4 carbon atoms or -C(O)CH3; and (2) -Cn'H2n'O(C2H4O)a'(C3H6O)b'R' moieties having weight average molecular weights in the range750 - 1400 and wherein n' is 3-4; a' is a number such that the ethylene oxide residues constitute 30-100 percent by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether; b' is a number suchtaht the propylene oxide residues constitute 0-70 percent by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether; R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or-C(O)CH3; and the blend average molecular weight of the overall CnH2n - initiated polyethers is in the range from 1600 to 2400 and the overall EO/P ratio ranges from 0.8 to 1.2. Such siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer surfactants are useful in the manufacture if flexible polyurethane slabstock foams.

Also claimed are: (i) a polyurethane (PU) foam compsn. comprising a polyol, an organic polyisocyanate, a urethane catalyst, a blowing agent and the above siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer cell stabiliser; (ii) the prepn. of a PU foam using the above siloxane-oxyalkylene copolymer as the cell stabiliser; and (iii) a PU foam prepd. by the above process.

In the above formulae for M and D', R is a polyether-containing substituent selected from the group consisting of (1) -CnH2nO(C2H4O)a(C3H6O)bR' moieties having weight average molecular weights in the range 2300-3400 and wherein n is 3-4, the ratio a/b is from 0.5 to 1.3 inclusive, R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or -C(O)CH3 and (2) -Cn'H2n'O(C2H4O)a'(C3H6O)b'R' moieties having weight average molecular weights in the range 750-1400 and wherein n' is 3-4, a' is a number such that the ethylene oxide residues constitute 30-100% by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether, b' is a number such that the propylene oxide residues constitute 0-70% by weight of the alkylene oxide residues of the polyether, R' represents hydrogen, an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or -C(O)CH3, and the blend average molecular weight of the overall polyether-containing substituents R in the compositions is in the range from 1500 to 2200 and the overall EO/PO molar ratio ranges from 0.65 to 1.2. The surfactants are useful in producing flexible polyurethane slabstock foams.
