The invention is related to a laboratory apparatus and method for performing a work step on at least one fluid sample in at least one sample receptacle using a magnetic field, comprising at least one sample reception section, which has at least one sample reception zone and at least one engagement zone, which zones are arranged side by side along a horizontal plane, the sample reception zone being configured to receive a sample receptacle, at least one magnetic tool device, which comprises at least one engagement element for at least partly engaging with the at least one engagement zone, where- in the at least one sample reception section and the at least one magnetic tool device or engagement element are arranged movable in relation to each other between at least a first position and a second position for performing a relative movement along said plane such that the relative movement causes the at least one engagement element to at least partly engage the at least one engagement zone while moving in parallel relative to at least a part of the sample reception zone, wherein, in the first position, the at least one engagement element is not arranged relative to the at least one engagement zone (20) for performing a work step using a magnetic field while in the second position, the at least one engagement element is at least partly engaging with the at least one engagement zone for performing a work step using a magnetic field in the second position. The invention is further related to a sample receptacle device and a magnetic tool device, in particular for use with the apparatus and the method according to the invention.

Erfindungsgemäß ist eine Mehrplatz-Mischvorrichtung (2) zum Mischen insbesondere von Laborgefäßen-Inhalten mit - mindestens zwei Aufnahmeadaptern (4, 6, 8, 10) jeweils mit einer Halterung zum Aufnehmen von Gefäßen, insbesondere Laborgefäßen insbesondere in Wechselblöcken (13, 14, 16, 18), und einem Antrieb (22), durch den sich jeder der Aufnahmeadapter in eine Mischbewegung versetzen lässt, die mit derselben Winkelgeschwindigkeit so verläuft, dass in horizontalen Ebenen jeder Punkt des Aufnahmeadapters eine Kreisbewegung mit gleichem Radius, gleicher Winkelgeschwindigkeit und gleicher Winkelposition um einen jeweiligen Mittelpunkt ausführt (kreisförmig translatorisch oszillierende Mischbewegung), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Ausgangslage der Aufnahmeadapter, aus der sich die Aufnahmeadapter mittels des Antriebs in die kreisförmig translatorisch oszillierende Mischbewegung versetzen lassen, in Richtung der Mischbewegung gegeneinander in ihrer jeweiligen Winkelposition um einen bestimmten Winkelbetrag verdreht ist, so dass sich die Unwuchten während der Mischbewegung mindestens teilweise kompensieren.
