    Abstract: In scenarios where service requirements are negotiated through a signalling layer whereas the services are carried out through a bearer layer, control rules are created at a control server logically interposed between the signalling and bearer layers. These control rules are based on service requirements received from an entity in the signalling layer, and are installed in an entity in the bearer layer For a bearer established therein. However, not all the service requirements negotiated through the signalling layer can be supported at the bearer layer by any user's equipment. The invention provides for a method and devices whereby the control server can create control rules based on the service requirements received from the signalling layer and also based on capabilities of the user's equipment currently used by the user, and whereby the control rules are installed for a currently established bearer or for a new subsequent bearer further established, depending on these control rules.

    Abstract: Un método para autorizar previamente la reserva de recursos portadores para un servicio antes de haber recibido una autorización de Calidad de Servicio, QoS, para el servicio, el método que se aplica en una Función de Política y Reglas para Tarificación, PCRF y que comprende los pasos de: recibir (S-025, S-065) una solicitud de reglas de control desde una Función de Aplicación de Políticas y Tarificación; PCEF; y determinar (S-030, S-070) que una autorización de QoS no se ha recibido aún desde una función de aplicación; AF, para la solicitud; autorizar previamente (S-035, S-075) una reserva de recursos portadores antes de haber recibido la autorización de QoS desde la AF; y caracterizado por que comprende: instalar (S-040, S-080) reglas de control iniciales para la reserva autorizada previamente hacia la PCEF, en donde las reglas de control iniciales son reglas de control temporales válidas solamente durante un periodo de tiempo configurable antes de haber recibido la autorización de QoS; y al recibir (S-095, S-145) la autorización de QoS desde la AF durante el periodo de tiempo, actualizar (S-110, S-160) las reglas de control iniciales instaladas previamente con reglas de control finales basadas en descripciones de componentes de medios incluidas en la autorización de QoS.

    Abstract: A method is provided for deploying a policy from a 3GPP core network to a non-3GPP access network. The policy relates to a connection established from a mobile terminal to the 3GPP core network via the non-3GPP access network. A local IP address is received (Sl) at the 3GPP core network, the local IP address having been acquired by the mobile terminal during establishment of the connection. At the 3GPP core network, establishment of a policy control session is initiated (S3) from the 3GPP core network to the non-3GPP access network. The received local IP address is used to determine (S2a) e or to enable determination of (S2b) the non-3GPP access network used for the connection with reference to shared I P addressing information. The shared IP addressing information sets out different respective ranges of local IP addresses assigned to a plurality of such non-3GPP access networks. At the 3GPP core network, the policy is provided (S4) to the non-3GPP access network using the policy control session established as a result of the policy control session initiation step. The policy is for deployment in the non-3GPP access network in relation to the established connection. A method is also provided for use at the non-3GPP access network.
