Abstract: The internal conical surface (3) of a metal piece (1) is ground by putting it in rubbing contact with an abrasive stone surface (9). The piece is rotated about the conical surface axis (4) and the abrasive stone is given an alternate translatory movement in a direction inclined to the conical surface axis at an angle equal to the half angle at the conical surface top. The abrasive stone is displaced in a direction perpendicular to the conical surface axis so as to adjust the advance and the support pressure of the stone on the internal surface of the piece. A first rough grinding is made with one abrasive stone followed by a second finishing grinding stage by a second stone having a finer granule. Oil is flowed over the conical surface during grinding and the filtered oil is recovered.
