Abstract:
The present invention provides a pigment dispersion containing at least a pigment at a concentration of from 2 to 50 mass% in the pigment dispersion, and a polymer having from 2 to 50 mass% of repeating units represented by the following formula (1) and from 2 to 40 mass% of repeating units represented by the following formula (2), and having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 500,000. In formula (1), R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, I represents -CO-, -COO-, etc., R 2 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. In formula (2), R 4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, J represents -CO-, -COO-, etc., R 5 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, etc., W represents a single bond or a bivalent linking group, and P represents a heterocyclic residue having a hetero ring contained in an organic pigment.

An aqueous ink composition includes an aqueous medium and resin microparticles formed from a resin, in which the resin has a structural unit represented by General Formula (1) or (2), and the content of the resin microparticles is 1% to 15% by mass, R 1 , R 2 , and R 3 each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; A 1 represents -O- or -NR 3 -; L 1 represents an alkylene group having 6 to 22 carbon atoms; M 1 and M 2 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal ion, or an ammonium ion; A 2 represents a single bond, -COO-, or -CONH-; and L 2 represents a divalent linking group having 6 to 23 carbon atoms.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink composition simultaneously satisfying flexibility of an image formed, and storage stability, discharge recoverability and curability of the ink composition, and an image forming method.SOLUTION: The ink composition includes: (a component A) a polymerizable compound expressed by general formula (1); (a component B) a monofunctional polymerizable compound having a (meth)acrylamide structure; (a component C) a light polymerization initiator; (a component D) a color material; and (a component E) water. In formula (1), Z represents a polyol residue that n hydrogen atoms of hydroxy groups have been removed from 3-6 hydric polyols; Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and n denotes an integer of 3-6.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersion which requires a shorter dispersion time and is excellent in the pigment dispersibility, and an ink composition which is excellent in the pigment dispersion stability and the curability even after a long-term storage or a repeated temperature change and is suitable for an inkjet application.SOLUTION: The pigment dispersion contains at least (A) pigment and (B) a polymeric dispersant that includes a structural unit having an oxetane ring and a structural unit having a pigment adsorptivity group.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method with excellent adhesiveness of the image formed onto a recording medium while inhibiting occurrence of a curl and a cockle when forming the image.SOLUTION: The image forming method includes an ink applying step for forming an image by inkjetting an ink composition containing coloring particles, a water-soluble polymerizable compound, a polymerization initiator and water onto a recording medium in which a base paper 11, a first layer 12 containing a binder, and a second layer 13 containing a white pigment are layered in this order, and a Cobb water absorption degree on a surface of the first layer on the base paper provided with the first layer is 5.0 g/mor less as measured by a water absorption degree test according to JIS P8140 with a contact time of 15 seconds, and a water absorption amount on a surface of the second layer is 2-8 mL/mas measured by a Bristow method with a contact time of 0.5 seconds.

SOLUTION: There are provided the pigment dispersion containing (a) the pigment, (b) a polymer having a hydrogen-bonding group capable of forming two or more hydrogen bonds and (c) a pigment derivative expressed by general formula (1), and the ink composition produced by using the pigment dispersion. In general formula (1), P is a group selected from the group consisting of a q-valent chromogen compound residue, an anthraquinone residue, an acridone residue and a triazine residue; A is a basic substituent, an acidic substituent or a neutral substituent; and q is an integer of 1-4.
