    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a spacer for field emission display panel comprises the following steps: first, providing a substrate 11; forming a layer of a colloid 13, such as a glass cement or other paste, on the substrate 11 (Fig 1B); then, forming a patterned photoresist layer 14 on the colloid layer 13 (Fig 1C); making the colloid with a pattern the same as the patterned photoresist layer, preferably by means of sand-blasting or etching; subsequently, removing the patterned photo-resist layer, and hardening the colloid on the substrate (Fig 1E); and finally, removing the substrate (Fig 1F). A release agent 12 may be provided between the substrate and the colloid layer in order to facilitate separation of the two. The present invention also discloses a base material utilized for the spacer, resulting in a low manufacturing cost of the spacer and achieving economic benefits of large product quantity.

    Abstract: A fluted feed-through for a discharge lamp includes a fluted ceramic core wi th plural channels and plural individual molybdenum or tungsten wires running i n different ones of the plural channels. The wires are twisted together at the ends of the feed-through. The feed-through is insertable into a capillary tube of a ceramic discharge lamp. The wires of the feed-through have a different thermal coefficient of expansion than the ceramic discharge lamp. The wires are thin enough so that the absolute magnitude of the thermal coefficients of expansion is sufficiently small to prevent seal cracks and leaking.
