SOLUTION: A gas turbine control system and a method have a large number of fuel valves 60 for a large number of combustion chambers 16, and include optimizing a change in nitrogen oxides emission, dynamic pressure, and the air-fuel ratio by adjusting the fuel valves 60 to the related combustion chambers 16. A fine adjustment of the fuel valves 60 is used in the next place, and a change in dynamic pressure vibration, the nitrogen oxides emission, or the air-fuel ratio is maintained in a prescribed limit. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid fuel purge system for washing a liquid fuel away from a combustion chamber for a gas turbine. SOLUTION: The liquid purge system includes the liquid fuel and a three-way valve for the flow of a purge air instead thereof to the combustion chamber. The gas turbine can be operated by the liquid fuel or a gas fuel. When the turbine is changed over for burning the gas fuel, the liquid fuel residing in the liquid fuel system is washed away by the purge air supplied by the liquid fuel purge system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a purge compressor by using low pressure air from a main compressor discharge port when a gas turbine is operated by gas fuel. SOLUTION: This purge system receives cooled and filtered air from a compressor discharge port 202 through an atomizing air pre-cooler 164 and a water separator 166. An atomizing air compressor bypass, line 210 supplies compressor discharge air to the purge system. The bypass line 210 enables manual control for the pressure and flow of the compressor discharge air supplied to the purge system as purge air. It is desirable to include a manual-operated regulating valve 212 and a limit orifice 211. The purge system does not require a boosting purge compressor so that the pressure of purge air is below the pressure of the compressor air from the discharge port 202.

Abstract: A purge system is disclosed for flushing liquid fuel and water from the combustion section of a gas turbine system as well as for providing continuous cooling of the nozzles. The gas turbine may operate on liquid fuel or gaseous fuel. When the turbine is switched to burn gaseous fuel, the liquid fuel remaining in the liquid fuel system is flushed by a liquid fuel purge system. Similarly, water in the water injection system is purged from nozzles in the combustion system by a water purge system. The purge system operates in conjunction with an air atomization system, but does not rely on an atomizing air compressor to boost the pressure of the purge air. Instead, the purge system utilizes pressurized air from the gas turbine compressor (202) and directs the purge air to manifolds (206,234,236) which distribute air to the atomizing air passages, liquid fuel nozzles, and water injection nozzles via purge valves (222,224) and soft purge valves (252,253).

Abstract: A fuel trimming unit has been adapted to each combustion chamber in a multi-chamber combustor of an industrial gas turbine. The fuel trim unit matches the combustion air flow into each combustion chamber. This adjusts the fuel-air mixture to account for air flow variations into the individual combustion reaction zones of each combustion chamber. Because of the fuel trim unit, a uniform fuel-air mixture is provided to each combustion chamber in a gas turbine. The fuel trim unit is adjusted using sensor inputs of the fuel flow rate to each combustion chamber, the dynamic pressure in each combustion chamber, and the turbine exhaust temperature.
