Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phosphorus-nitrogen product by an economically and environmentally approved method by using supercritical carbon dioxide in place of a usually used organic solvent for reaction acceleration in the production of the phosphorus-nitrogen product such as a linear phosphorus chloride nitride by the reaction of phosphorus pentachloride with ammonium chloride. SOLUTION: The phosphorus-nitrogen product is obtained by allowing phosphorus pentachloride to react with ammonium chloride in the molar ratio of 1.5:1 to 5.0:1 under a substantially anhydrous condition at a temp exceeding 110 deg.C to a lower temp. then the decomposition temp. of any reaction material or reaction product (usually >=140 deg.C) in the presence of a transition metal compound of the effective amount of a catalyst in the presence of the sufficient quantity of carbon dioxide to keep a reaction pressure of 80-350atm. An organic silicone material is condensed or equilibrated by bring the organic silicon material into contact with the phosphorus-nitrogen product under a reaction promoted condition.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To form a superconducting joint used for connecting the ends of continuous superconductors together on a superconducting tape by removing all the non-superconductive material from one end of the tape and depositing a superconducting connection alloy at the end through the CVD reaction. CONSTITUTION: After the removal of all the non-superconducting material from one end of a superconducting tape 15, a conductive joint is physically connected to the tape end, on which a superconductive alloy layer is deposited for fixing the joint. The deposition is based on the CVD reaction between hydrogen and halide in the main metal and the reactive metal. That CVD reaction occurs in a temperature range from 700 to 950 deg.C. This means the heating of the exposed portion of the tape end in that temperature range triggers chemical vapor deposition at the exposed portion of the alloy layer. When the layer of an appropriate thickness is formed, the flow of the reactive gas is checked, and the device is recharged with inert gas and then cooled down. Then, bolts 4 are removed, a housing 1 and a board 2 are separated to remove the connected tape 15.

Abstract: A method for forming a superconductive joint in tape or wire includes stripping non-superconductive material from the tape ends, joining them conductively and depositing a superconductive alloy layer thereon, typically of triniobium tin, by a chemical vapor deposition reaction of hydrogen with the corresponding metal halides. The joined ends are then covered with a chemically inert but electrically conductive cladding layer. Certain of the steps are performed in an inert atmosphere free from moisture, elemental hydrogen and elemental oxygen, typically a helium atmosphere.
