Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate high amplitude electron beam pulse by forming an electron source with a photoelectron emission layer which is exited by a light source. CONSTITUTION:A photoelectron emission layer 8 is formed on a glass substrate 7 which transmits light. An electron lens consists of a cylindrical grid 3 having an opening in its center and a cylindrical anode having an opening in its center. When the photoelectron emission layer 8 is emitted from the side of the glass substrate 7 with a light source, photoelectrons are generated from the photoelectron emission layer 8. The photoelectrons are focused to form an electron beam and projected forward.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a device usable for observation or the like of an image by means of ultraviolet rays contained in Chelenkov radiation originated in used nuclear fuel stored in water under illumination by maintaining and multiplying twodimensional distribution of photoelectrons emitted from the photoelectric plane having sensitivity in the range of ultraviolet rays while converting its electronic image into a visible image. CONSTITUTION:A plane of incidence of an airtight container of an ultraviolet ray image intensifying device 2 forms a window 20 by using MgF2 showing en excellent transmittive characteristic for ultraviolet rays. A photoelectric plane 21 emits a photoelectric image corresponding to an ultraviolet ray image by means of the ultraviolet ray image imaged on the CsTe photoelectric plane 21 through said window 20. Said electronic image is imaged on a microchannel plate 25 by an electron lens system consisting of a focusing electrode 23 and an anode 24 after being accelerated by an acceleration mesh electrode 22, while the electronic image here multified is emitted from an output plane of the microchannel plate 25 for being collided with a phosphor plane 26 after being accelerated by further higher voltage. As a result, the ultraviolet ray image is converted into a visible image intensified by nearly 10-40 thousands. Said visible image can be observed through an ocular.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To generate an X-ray pulse of short duration and high energy by having an photoelectric surface with a large area as the electron source of an Y-ray generation tube while driving the electron source by light. CONSTITUTION:An electron emission layer 14 is formed on the inside surface of a glass surface plate 13 forming a part of a vacuum container. An electron lens is formed of a bowl-shaped beam forming electrode 15, which forms a part of a vacuum container to be fixed to the outside of the photoelectron emission layer 14 at the base, and a bowl-shaped anode 16 having an opening at its center. A targen 18 for X-ray generation is a Ti film having the thickness of about 10mum while being fixed to a Be window 19 forming a part of the vacuum container 17. A source of light irradiates a photoelectron emission layer 14 from outside the vacuum container through a glass picture plate 13 so as to generate photoelectrons.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure a feeble ultraviolet intensity at an arbitrary part in a view of an observing system by intensifying thoroughly an ultraviolet image and dividing said image to observing and measuring systems. CONSTITUTION:The ultraviolet image generated by a material 1 is formed on a photoelectric surface of an ultraviolet image intensifying device 3 by an objective lense 2, the amplified output image converted to visible rays is divided by a half mirror 9, and one is observed through ocular lense. The other light is formed an image on a photodetector 11 by a lense 10. The detector 11 receives the light of center part of the output image corresponding to the part shown by an index in view field, converts the light to an electrical signal, the signal is displayed on a display device 15 through an amplifier 12, an AD converter 13 and a sample holding circuit 14.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress increase of the brightness level at the background portion by arranging a metallic shielding structure between the deflection electrode and the container wall face or the electrode lead subjected to multiplactoring phenomenon and connecting it to the ground potential point. CONSTITUTION:A synchro-scan streak device is constructed by arranging a mesh electrode 3, a focus electrode 4, an anode 5 and a deflection electrode 6 in a vacuum container 1 having a photoelectric face 2 and a phosphor face 7. Then first and second flanges 31, 32 and a metallic structure where shielding boards 33, 34 of cut-disc shape are welded to said flanges 31, 32 are provided around the deflection electrodes 6a, 6b and arranged to hold the electrode lead 6c between them. Consequently, multipactoring discharge due to secondary electron emission in the vicinity of the deflection electrode 6 can be prevented to suppress increase of the background level of brightness distribution appearing on the phosphor face 7 thus to enable observation of weak streak image with good S/N ratio.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the resistance of a photoelectric screen and improve its response by connecting a conductor mesh to a metallic electrode layer that supplies a photoelectron emission layer with current and providing the photoelectron emission layer in the mesh and then forming the photoelectric screen. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum electrode 15 is provided on the upper part of a window material 5 at the light incidence side of a vacuum container 1 in a photomultiplier tube and such and an aluminum layer is deposited on a window surface. Then, a metallic mesh electrode 16 that forms meshes by photoetching is arranged. In addition, a photoelectric screen 14 is formed by depositing Sb on the metallic mesh electrode 16 by making Cs, K, and Na metal vapor react to Sb. As a result, since current is supplied from a conductive mesh near a photoelectron emission point to the point, the resistance of the photoelectric screen 14 can be reduced and the photoelectric screen can be applied to the generation of high optical current and high speed response.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To superpose an image by a specified wavelength component from an object to be observed with a visible image to observe by converting the image formed by the specified wavelength component to the visible image by an image intensifier tube, and also observing directly both the images through the half mirror of a visible image observing optical system and an eyepiece. CONSTITUTION:The ultraviolet image of an object to be observed 1 is formed as a visible image on the fluorescent surface 8 of an image intensifying tube 3, and observed through a half mirror 11 and an eyepiece. On the other hand, the light from the object to be observed 1 is observed directly as a visible image of unmagnification through telephoto type lenses 10b, 10c of a direct visible image observing optical system 10, a total reflector 10d, half mirror 11 and the eyepiece 12.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a secondary-electron multiplier device with a long life by melting many glass bars made of glass corroded by an etching agent at their cores, corroding after providing a protective layer to block the corrosion on one surface of a cut-out glass plate, and again corroding after removing the protective layer. CONSTITUTION:A glass bar 2 to serve as a core and to be melted by an etching agent is prepared, and the glass bar 2 is inserted into a glass tube 1 containing lead, which is then heated and extended. Thousands of these glass fibers are bundled, heated and extended. Further, thousands of them are bundled and melted to obtain a glass bar assembly 3 with a diameter of 25mm.. The assembly 3 is cut at a right angle to the glass bar to cut out a glass plate 4. A protective layer 5 to block the corrosion is formed on one surface of the glass plate 4, which is immersed in an etching agent to corrode the cores. Next, after removing the protective layer 5, it is again immersed and processed in the etching agent. The resistance of a lead resistance layer 7a thus formed can be made low as compared with that of a resistance layer 7b on the side formed with the protective layer 5. A secondary-electron multiplier device is thus assembled and an image intensifier tube with a long life can be obtained.
